extreme loss of power please help!!! :'(
So when i bought my 01Cummins it was running rough i put a new lift pump in it. ever since the the truck had a really nasty idol. Definitely gettin air in the line. I was only gettin 9 psi of fuel but when i stomped on it it would go to 0 so I stopped driving it and got a air dog system. I put it on and now this truck is absolutly gutless seems like the more i drive it the less power i have. Can anyone tell me what may be happining here? I love this truck a ton but can't afford to keep dumping money into it... Oh it also after I put on the air dog started leaking out of my water seperater valve witch is odd to me that no Cummins store i called in the northwest could find me one so I had to buy a new fuel filter housing. I don't think that would restrict my truck much... It runs fine and starts over normal but no smoke or power. Thank you.

check engine light on?
No
have you tried to unhook the edge box I have seen alot of those with problems?
No i haven't. I will try. When i switch between levels I feel the power increase just not like the old days
i really hate to say this but from the way im taking the info it sounds like your vp44 is trying to retire :argh:
but you need to test everything first this is a very useful link Blue Chip Diesel Performance Specialists updates are appreciated good luck |
thank you for the link! I read it and have a few things to check. I tried running the truck without the chip and the check engin light came on. Now I have to go have the codes read is this normal?
i would say the edge box was hiding the problem..thats kinda what they do anyway is trick the computer....you should be able to get down to the problem now :tu:
let me know what you find out |
I have the code p1693. Reading up on it people have tons of different sayings about it. One guy says its.impossible to only have that code but thats all it shows. Other people say delete the code.and it will be fine again? I don't want to ignore that problem. The truck doesn't have a rough idol starts right up every time. Drives smooth as ever just not near the power still. I'm figuring has to be the fuel problem cuz its not.sinking at all now
did you use a code reader or onboard diag.?
Just turned the key 3 times fast?
there is another code
try it again and wait longer for the next code it probably wasnt done yet |
When is did it it went p1693 then p done. Do i keep waiting!? I'll go try it again!
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Actually after p done it goes back to the odo |
thats very strange...i would clear the codes first...then do a apps relearn...ill post a link on relearn for ya...then drive it and see if the light comes back on....my truck has codes stored but no light on
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- you must relearn the new t.p.s.after both batteries are re connected insert key, only turn until dash lights come on.DONT START IT! after dash lights come on slowly push the gas petal all the way down.then let off slowly[not really slow it should take about six seconds down and six up.this time frame is just to explane what i call slow]now turn key off.you just relearned the t.p.s. now you can start it. |
Ok thank you! I should delete that code first?
yeah just start over and leave the edge off of it till you figure out the problem....i relearn my apps about once every 2 months or so...it makes a bigger difference i have found on automatics
Ok i just deleted the codes and i noticed a p0237 while checking rhem with the actual box. I tried the thing you said but I'm not sure how to tell it it worked atfer pressing the throttle slowly and letting off slowly.
you just turn the key off and you should be good...on the code- did you ever turn the key on with boost sensor unplugged
