Remove your edge comp and all connections report back

JSPulliam21 11-29-2007 12:30 AM

Already did that. No change, and the pump has never been tapped. I listed other things I did in post 5.

Sorry i missed your other post ..

Wiring going from the VP44 to the ECM is not seeing a connection IMO

Check your grounds & connections

Run a Jumper cable from your engine pulling hook/loop by #6 Cyl to the neg battery terminal to try to crate a solid ground

I cleaned and painted all the grounds not too long ago, so they should be good. Does the ECM ground of of it's mounting bolts and the back of the housing? I will try the jumper cable in the morning.

painted all the grounds
You dont want to paint the grounds bud paints an insulator ,

The Engine pulling hook is a nice soild raw medal piece to clip your jumper to and when you connect the other end to your neg terminal it ground the engine Something to try

Good Luck

No, no, no. I cleaned them until the bolts, terminals, and mount were shiny metal, the re-attached them, then painted over them with clear.

I've got the same thing going on with a guys truck I'm working on, turned out it was the ECM, waiting for the new one to get here. If you know someone with a 98.5 to 02 borrow their ECM and try it, if it fixes you need an ECM, if not check the harness.

JSPulliam21 11-29-2007 11:09 AM

Everyone I know has a High Output, and I don't think the ECMs interchange. What do you mean by check the harness?

Dr. Evil 11-29-2007 11:16 AM

He means check the wiring harness - check for bare spots where the wires rubbed etc., There could be possible shorting issues.

JSPulliam21 11-29-2007 03:58 PM

I will look at the ECM harness. Is it easy to pull the ECM and clean it's mounting points? I went out today and did the jumper cable thing, cleared the codes, checked all of the fittings and hose in the fuel system, and started it. I drove immediatley to the gas station a filled up with $3.29 #2. Still running good. Drove to NAPA, about 5 miles away, and had no problems. I pulled the codes when I got back out, and I got a P0122.I cleared it. It started fine and drove back to school fine. I checked the codes when I got back, and the P0122 was back.
