2005 3500 low on power
Hey guys, one of my buddies on base was installing his old sound system in my truck, when he did something (I was on CQ duty at the time) that shorted out the truck and melted the wires to the battery. Now I am getting a P 2809 code and the mechanic on post said the ecu may be fried, or at least the truck is in limp mode. Mind you, I have only had the truck 6 days, and with the recent snow storm, I only have 99.6 miles on it. To say I am disheartened is a gross understatement. How much boost does the stock engine make? (plan to install a boost gauge from my old 300zx TT. The truck starts up fine, but the check engine light is on, and where as before I could power brake it and launch nicely...it now feels...suspect. Of course my buddy is sorry and broke as hell (E-5) but that does not help me. Plus I am hearing these trucks are vin coded to the pc's. Could use some feed back family. :argh: :ouch:

cant get the CEL to go away?
|
the engine light went off, but its a "P2509 POWERDOWN DATA LOST ERROR" do you know what stock boost pressure on these trucks are? I have a boost gauge I plan to install, but it may not go high enough.
|
stock the wastegate opens at 28psi if i remember right
|
28psi eh? I think my gauge goes up to 30. May have to hook it up and see.
|
Well I installed the boost gauge and she is getting her full 28 psi :tu:

WHEN MONITORED
Continuous - key on or key off. SET CONDITION Loss of voltage detected at the ECM for a calibrated amount of time. POSSIBLE CAUSES Poor connections at the batteries Low battery voltage Open fused B+ to ECM Open ground circuit Battery + Shorted to other circuits Return circuit shorted Battery + shorted to ground Intermittent condition |
I have printed off the possible causes and will take it to my mechanic. There is definitely molten metal where one of the batteries melted a wire for the amp. What does the open fused b+ mean. Is it referring to a pin on the ecm?

Just ordered some gauges: pyro, trans and boost, so it will definitely help with keeping an eye on things.
