oil from turbo?
 

I have a 2003 cummins that I just replaced the injectors in. Immediately afterwards, oil began spewing out of the back of the turbo! Thinking the stock turbo was shot, I had it replaced with a new aftermarket turbo. With the new turbo installed I drove no more than 10 miles before it began spewing even more oil out the back of the turbo and tailpipe than the original turbo.

What are the odds of two turbos going bad immediatley after injector replacement? How could it be related? I checked the oil return line from the turbo to engine block - all is clear. Could an injector be installed improperly, letting combustion pressure into the block and create excessive oil pressure? Any ideas or suggestions? I can't get a refund for the new turbo now and don't want to purchase another turbo. I feel it'll just happen again. I'm paying the mechanic over and over again for turbo installation, exhaust manifold gaskets etc. Help!

you have way too much crank case pressure...there isnt a seal in the turbo to keep the oil from running out if the oil level rises up to the shaft centerline...had this problem on my pullin truck and come to find out i had galded 2 cylinders causing too much crank case pressure....by you saying that you just had new injectors installed i'm wondering if you dont have some busted rings...we rebuilt one last winter that had rings busted in 4 cylinders and after the engine warmed up you could not tell anything at all was wrong....and it took .040" to clean the cylinders up in that truck....if i was you i would find someone that is capable of doing a compression test on your engine...it takes a special dummy injector to adapt over to the compression guage...readings should be in the 450psi plus range cummins says the min is 350psi

check the turbocharger oil return line and replace it if necessary. Also have a look at the crank case air relieve

Could be the oil return line from the turbo is restricted causing the oil to build up on the return side of the turbo. Also have you checked the oil level? You can also check your crankcase pressure to see if their is pressure building in it. You could check it by opening the oil fill when the engine is runing put you hand over the fill port and see if their is pressure. There should be very little to none because the breather should freely allow the air to exit that way.
