91 Cummins-cut out while driving and wont start
 

Well I'm brand new to the diesel game and need some guidance. I have a 91 dodge which started up and drove great until I was driving at about 65 and it just cut out and wouldn't start. Turns over fine. I was told it was likely the injection pump by someone with as little knowledge about it as myself but I don't know how to test this anyway. Ideas, input, anything really is greatly appreciated!

well if it turns over but doesent fire that usually means it isnt getting fuel, one way to test this is to crack open an injector line at the injector then go from there.

Cracked open the line and it squirts, I dont know how high the pressure is though

it could be fuses or the fuel shutoff solonoid if it has one, i dont know where it is,id wait till someone more knowledable about first gens chimes in.

1st gen. fuel cut solenoid is at rear of inj. pump ck for voltage with key on then unplug wire and touch back to solenoid while listening for slight click or just run a jumper from batt. pos. if no click bad solenoid if clicks place hand on side of inj. pump and turn engine by hand (alt. pulley nut) if clicking or popping is felt :td:bad inj. pump

Alright truck is fixed. I touched a lot of things so its hard to say which was the case but the connection to the shut off solenoid was pretty oxidized so I cleaned that up, the lift pump had been replaced but the system not primed and it looks like some air was getting sucked in near the fuel heater thing so I put a new gassket there. I pulled the solenoid and the little filter at the banjo fitting and there wasn't anything scarry so I think my pumps fine. I just got this truck for free because it wasn't running!
