2001 Dodge 3500 5.9L turbo
Please help,
I have a 2001 Dodge 3500 5.9L turbo which weighs 7,000 lbs. When towing a 7,000 lb. travel trailer, when I try to accelerate, the engine misses or jerks. Only when towing with a load. The DTC is PO216. The Fault Location---Fuel Injection Timing Control-Circuit Malfunction. The Probable Cause---Wiring, fuel injection timing control solenoid,ECM. Where are these parts located on the engine? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Leo |
I'm afraid your VP44 is going south on you... :scare2:
VP44 is the injection pump located on the drivers side of the engine right up front behind the timing cover. You can get an idea here: VP44 Replacement |
Thank you.

Unfortunately my friend you have a death code, post up if you need a quote from one of the vendors or need direction on a new one........................

Like posted, VP44 replacement time! Good chance you need a lift pump too. Make sure you either check performance of the lift pump or replace it when replacing the VP44, or you could wind up doing it all over again in a day or so, on your dime.:argh:

You also need to install a fuel pressure guage in the cab.
