dtc code 01 cummins

01 cummins, FASS lift, Bosch vp44 pump, 150 inj, goerends converter (VB sitting in floor not installed yet), stock turbo (super b special sitting in floor not installed yet) Smarty on 9.......problem...2 DTC codes 0602 Fuel Cal error and 1693 Jtec Module. Anyone know what these issues are and how to resolve?? (Bosch pump and 150's 2 weeks old.)

did you ever clear the codes when those were replaced?

Dr. Evil 06-06-2010 10:31 AM

What he said.

Clear the codes are see what happens? Are you using a scanner?

Redgoat 06-06-2010 10:40 AM

Reading codes with smarty. Cleared codes and they came back. checked lift pump. 15 psi @ idle. drops couple psi at half throttle. I think due to 150's and amount of fuel required and supplied is tripping codes. What ya'll think???

Dr. Evil 06-06-2010 10:46 AM

Your FASS should be able to supply enough fuel - what kind of fuel pressure do you have?

Redgoat 06-06-2010 11:10 AM

don't know how to check.

rollinblacksmoke 06-06-2010 03:19 PM

anytime you run a chip especially with 2gen cummins you have to watch fuel pressure... VP44's are very touchy... get the fuel pressure at idle and then at WOT let us know you might be running into flow issues rather then pressure. try going to cumminsforum.com they will have a larger knowledge of what the issue might be or check mopar1973man.com <--- he is the master of the cummins.

Really?? Thats pretty funny right there....lol lol

Redgoat - even though you have a FASS you still need have a fuel pressure guage. You need a 12mmX1.5 tapped banjo bolt, a guage, some line (1/8" air brake line works good), a needle valve and some fittings.

This is an install on an 01 - the fuel pressure sample point is on the outlet of the fuel filter.

Alternately, you can install the sample point on the test port of the VP-44 (although this is less desirable imo as it ties up the test port of you ever want/need to verify the reading on your guage in the cab). That install looks like this:

Or you can install it with one of the FASS fittings (in the larger fuel supply line or on pump itself). Do you have the full FASS unit or the standalone pump?

2001 Chrysler manual indicates very little diag. for code 0602 but states checking for flash update and very probable ecm failure (cummins controller one engine) are you sure about the 1693 code curious because 1694 is no buss mssgs from companion controller IE ecm hope this helps
