1995 k2500 suburban 4x4
6.5L turbo diesel 220k miles

new injector pump last year

have not began to trouble shoot i need to find the most suspect from you guys then i will dig in...

here is the deal. i will run fine for weeks even months then it will die driving down the road like you turned the key off....coast to the shoulder. and it will start right back up. some times it will drive 100 miles or 1000miles or it will just go 100yards and die again.

cruise stoped working,,,air bag light is on...abs light is on...ses light comes on and off with no noticeable effect.

motor has no blow by runs good uses little oil the turbo uses a little.(needs rebuilt im sure)

ok guys im new here just looking for some good answers from some deisel guys ...im to new to really tear into this with out a few pointers. thanks

Wow sounds like you have a lot of electrical issues , could there possible be a short that is causing something to shut the truck off or maybe not supplying the injector pump ? does it happen if you hit a bump?

Sounds like you have a pmd going out. It is the black box on the side of the injection pump unless it has been relocated. If it has not been relocated move it to the bumper. As for the lights coming on ses will and the others might. The oil from the turbo is probably from the cdr.

it sounds like your pmd is failing heres a good read about it and how to fix it so you dont have problems with your next one https://www.dieselbombers.com/chevy-...ce-tweaks.html

thanks for the quick replies....

i think that its in the PMD my self. We did replace the PMD with a Stanadyne PMD when I had a new inj pump installed 18mths ago. I am going to get a OPS extension hose and replace the OPS...Then Im going to add a fuel pressure adapter that fits on top of the fuel filter and see what kind of fuel pressure I have there...And if that fixes it I will get a PMD extension cable and heat sink and relocate it...(just to be safe)if the OPS does not fix it I will buy a new PMD and relocate it. Im leaning towards a dtech PMD any input on what the best PMD and relocation spot would be? And the possibilty that the OPS would be bad causing the lift pump not to get fuel to the inj pump and causing the PCM to kill the engine?? Just a shot in the dark.. Thanks for the info so far.

My next one is going to be a d-tech. Heard a lot of good things about them and I am not rewarding stanadyne for building bad one's for as long as they have.

ye i hear that loud n clear....

i found a place that will give ya a 7yr warantee on a d-tech with the ext cable sink and PMD for about $550 thats what im going to do if or when...
