temp guage sporatic reading
 

today my 95 ctd temp gage started doing something weird it dosent read temp unless you are standing on the throtle or it sits at an idel i have checked colant and it fine but this gage is making me very nervious i have also stuck my finger into the colant and it warm not hot after 30 mile drive:argh:

Sounds like the guage, or better yet the sending unit that actually reads the temp has gone fualty on you.

Hmmm, be alerted.
check electric connections (have an eýe on ground connections) Sometimes it helps to diconnect and to connect them several times to get rid of surface corrosion. Also spray a bit WD40 into the connectors.

Check your thermostat, maybe it is constant open. Coolant should be at op temps after a 30 mile drive.

A cross check can simply be done with an IR gauge.

i have added a quart of coolant. i dont hhink the stat is open it dont have much flow through the radiator i will losen the grounds today after work and see if problem goes away
