Likely you have an injector(s) leaking down. Will start and run fine if using ether (starting fluid) or other combustible, i.e. WD-40, but will hard start or not start at all after shutting it down. Most no-start issues with the '03's can be traced to this. Can you smell fuel in the oil or has the oil level risen?

BTW. It is a monstrously bad idea to use ether and other such fluids while trying to start your Dad's truck. The grid heater, located at the bottom in the intake elbow, can ignite these and cause a hell of a boom, possibly injuring both yourself and the truck (a blown-up inter-cooler replacement will run you $1500.00. You eyes and hands will cost a bit more).

Thanks for the repley.no chang in engine oil and letting the the heater shut off be for hitting it with WD40.I read a post that fan clutch wint bad and he unpluged the fan and it wood start but sumtimes the ECM wood be effected.

When it fired up on WD40 did the exhaust produce a lot of white smoke? If so, I am going to say at least 1 injector is stuck open and thus you can't produce any rail pressure, and the truck can't start.

no exses white smoke.and I checked for fuel at the fuel rail releaf.thanks for the help.:argh:

That simply means the relief valve has not failed. A failed injector will still bleed off rail pressure. You need to get something that will let you read rail pressure to see if rail pressure is building.

Any chance the wires for the cam or crank sensor were damaged as well?

:humm:swoped both cam and cranck sinsers out of difrent truck all good. I will check psi but wood that show a coad? thanks for the help
