Electrical Fire will not start
Have 2006 f250 6.0 w/83,000 miles. While backing in the driveway today smoke started coming from under the hood on passenger side. It even filled cab. Unable to find any burnt wires. All electrics work, radio, windows, etc. Truck will not attempt to turn over. I have only had this truck for 1000 miles & just spent $2300 at ford w/ficm & 2 new injectors. Was running fine other than rattle in dash at a certain rpm. Any suggestions on where to start?

i would take it back to ford, say everything was good and after you guys worked on it it started a fire. if there a semi decent dealership they should be more than willing to help you out. something they worked on they couldve shorted out a wire or put it somewhere where it caused it to short

We found loose starter cable tightened it & still won't crank. Checked voltage going to starter 12.4 volts. Plan on taking starter off & having it tested at autozone. Don't think dealership would think it was something they did, it has ran fine the 200 miles we have put on it since they have worked on it.

test to see if you got juice to the solenoid wire on the starter when turning the key. if you dont have power there you probaby blew a fuse or relay

Thanks guys, it was the starter. Evidently someone had disconnected starter & only put 2 of 3 bolts back in & didn't tighten down hot terminal. It shorted out & burnt starter up. Cranks fine now. Thanks goodness the way it was smoking I thought it was a major electrical fire.

glad you got it figured out!:tu:
