cold no start

I have a 1997 F250 with 230,000 miles. I recently replaced the glow plugs, glow plug relay and the internal wiring harness for the glow plug/ injectors. It was hard to start in the mornings with a lot of smoke and sputtering. I am confident that the glow plugs are functioning properly now. I had no problems for several weeks. Now it won't start in the mornings when it's cold outside. No sputtering, no nothing. Then in the afternoon, when it's warm, it starts up quick and runs great. What could be the problem?

Could be a glow plug related issue again.

Plug it in. And Yes i would say glow plug issue. I have a 1997 with now 270,000. Runs with the best of them. I don't know if the previous owner ever did glows but i haven't. Just fuel filter. Its been the best truck i've bought. Simple problems here and there but all the parts come free easy (hard to believe after 270,000 miles!). Are a bit costly but what diesel isn't. Oh and check your connections. Sometimes the temp change can change and distort plastics and metals. Even a 1/32 inch different may mean its not getting connection.

I checked the glow plug relay and it's working. I can take the connection apart at the valve cover gasket and check there. I'll check other connctions as well tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.

Have you checked the oil level and how long since last oil change you have have a low oil problem with the hpop. and not getting enough oil to fire the injectors when it is cold out.

I checked the connections and sure enough I had a bad connection. Now it's working great. Thanks :jump::jump:
