Weird behavior after sitting for 5 weeks without power
 

H:ouch:i all,

My 04 Ram was sitting in the drive way for about 5 weeks without batteries.
I got new ones finally and hooked them up.
After a a rough start where it seemed like a cylinder went on vacation and a ton (20) different codes I disconnected the edge box and it started up smoothly and fine.

A few things are strange though:
1.) The wipers and washer do not work
2.) The horn is out
3.) the emergency brake light is always on
4.) the LED flashers in my mirrors flash every second even when the ignition is off and the key is removed they did not do that before ( the regular lamps do not do that)

Other than that it runs smoothly.
I checked the relays and fuses for the respective circuits and all seems to be well.

For now I have disconnected the batteries again and will let it sit for a few hours and then hook it up again and recheck the behavior. But if anyone has a hint/tip/idea what could be going on let me know.

Sounds real weird. My '03 sat most of last winter and when I fired up, I had headlight issues,they flashed like wig wags,my radio didn't work, and something else I don't member. Turns out my alternator was causing funky things to happen. With a rebuild kit from Jeno's I was going again without any more problems. I'm not sayin that's your problem.

i would get a scanner and clear all the codes, its probably gonna take a while for it to relearn but it should be fine driveability wise. not sure about the electronics issue. :humm:

At the very worst, need a new ECM. :ouch:

that could be the case AT THE WORST. but still i dont see how leaving the truck absolutly dead for 5 weeks would do that....

i mean this usually happens for most cars, they're dead for a while and the run like crap when they fire up after a long time.

What is the code with the lowest number? :humm:

Funny thing, I was at the dealer the other day and they brought a car in for a bad battery and it was also doing some funky electrical stuff, like yours is doing. I wouldn't doubt that the PCM is possibly fried. Need to scan for codes.

this is a common case with audi's, battery goes dead and the computer looses communication with alot of components, the fix for that is a scan tool with an input option where you can enter number codes to re-adapt the system. could be the case with your dodge :humm:

I have a 2005 Ram 2500 CTD that I leave sit for 6 to 8 months with the batteries disconnected and it has always started right up. I have been going on for the last 3 years so you must have a bad ECM or other electrical fault. Have you checked all the fuses and connectors to the ECM and other sensors?

Dealer is going to have to reset some stuff. So call em up and make an appointment.

computer will probably have to be re-flashed.
