Yea the two sensor are located nearby if not on the valvebody if I remember correctly. I guess go to autozone or somewhere if you're in a hurry. I remember when my dads 2001 did it. wouldn't shift into 1st or 2nd. but you can shift it manually to limp it around.

The P1762 says it the Overdrive Band failed/off

first off...whats going on with the truck? Does it shift right?

Rattle_Box_01 07-27-2007 01:26 AM

arite well first off when starting from a dead stop its really sluggest like the tc aint locking up and i have a brake on and after it switches to 2nd its fine after that goes 3rd and 4th just fine. but when coming to a stop it feels like its trying to jerk and such. I ck my fluid it was tad low but not low were it affected any thing filled it to the correct hight and still did same thing. It just started a day ago. I just got in my truck to go grocey store and it started acting up. and i ck my codes and found the p1762. Anybody got any info? does autozone carry these parts? i'll be swaping them out my self. What all sensors do i need? i wish i had better scaner to om the sensors out find out which one might be bad. Anybody got any clue? Please let me know i go work tommrow and my next day off aint till next wed/thur and i gota find time fix it for i go work... Thanks for any help!

If you gotta pull that oil pan you won't be fixin this before you go to work. Hate to sound negative but I think you got a lot of back breakin labor comin up if you gotta get in there unless they made some big changes between my 99 and yours.

Can you shift it down into first manually? Try shifting it manually and see what happens. It definitely sounds like the solenoids went out down there. It's a long time task thats made easier if you can get the truck elevated. Taking the trans pan off and getting the valve body ain't no big deal really....just need something to catch all the old atf.

i seem to be fond of using my mouth and ear canals.

sounds electrical. like said above try to manually go through the gears. if you can then you'll know. either way i'd drop the pan and check the bottom of it for material. if there's a ton it might not be worth putting solenoids in.

I always knew you caught in your mouth...didn't know about the ears...you need to get a pan with a drain plug son.
