Injection Pump Solenoid???
Hi all!
I got a 1984 K3500 w/6.2. Starts fine when cold. When engines is warm won't start. I've been told that it could be the Injection Pump Solenoid. Is this something that can be replaced easily? Any advise would be great! THANKS! |
i have 2 friends with an 83 and 84 6.2 diesels. and it has happened to both. one was a secondary fuel filter hidden under the aircleaner housing toward the firewall. it was never changed from the privious owner untill we found it on a diagram. not all 6.2`s have them but i haave found a few that the owners never knew they were there. this would caused the exact same symptoms as you described.
how long does the truck sit before you try to start it after driving? this will also help diagnose more. 5 min, 20, etc.. there are a bunch of people here with 6.2's so be patient and more help will come! |
air leaking in when things are warmed up maybe?

Run a jumper wire from the cutoff solenoid to the return solenoid (terminal with 2 green wires). Let us know if that helped.

Thanks for the info!!!
The truck varies on start up times, sometimes it can be 15 mins, sometimes up to an hour or so. The truck doesn't have a second fuel filter :( I was hoping it was something as simple as that. |
Does it vary to outside temperature or using the block heater?? Could also mean the injector pump is on it's last leg.
