'04.5 Dodge in Jackson MS, P0111, runs rough
Hey my sister is somewhat stuck in Jackson, MS in her '04.5 Ram, set a P0111; it's started getting about 12-13mpg instead of the usual 17-18mpg, running noticeably rough. Anyone know of a good shop/dealership out there? She's got to drive back here to CA pretty soon...

I can look up the code to see if it can be a quick fix.
|
Looking like she's needing a new IAT sensor ($170). It's the sensor up near the intake horn, down underneath either the #4 or #5 injector line.
|
is there any chance that it's dirty or coated with an oil/dirt combo? a few cases on here and my local diesel shop seem to think either the sensor needs to be cleaned or the injectors may be bad. I'd like it to be the sensor as that's quite a bit cheaper than injectors; I've been told that with the P0111 code and a minor decrease in mileage is the sensor and a major decrease in mileage with stuttering/rough running is injectors.:argh:
what do you think? |
Sensor can be cleaned. Cheapest to try out.

What did ya find out??
|
Apparently she drove it home, I believe she did try cleaning the sensor, still need to talk to her. but she's no longer stuck, so that's good.
|
I'm surprised it didn't shift into limp mode.

If the problem comes back, you can reopen the thread?? :U:

It did turn out to be 3 bad injectors and a local dealership replaced them under warranty. She took the Smarty off but forgot about the boost fooler, they found that and asked her about it...she just batted her eyes and shrugged. :ok1:
I guess the thread can be re-closed as it's resolved. Thanks for the help. |
