Air in fuel system
 

Hello everyone...this is my first post,looking for some help. I have a 1998 suburban with a 6.5 turbo.. so i changed the fuel filter, first time for me too do this, put everything back together and it started right up, but only ran for a minute or so and then stopped. Now i went true the owners manual and i see where i should have opened the drain on the fuel filter,(not the one on the front off the engine like i did) so i do this but still no fuel coming out or air, and i also opened one off the injectors and still no fuel....appreciate any info.

there is a bleeder on the FF loosen it up and turn the key on till alll the air comes out and fuel is being forced out.

if that dont work, the filter might of not made a good seal

Yeah i got the FF bleeder open. Still no fuel, should i hear the pump coming on?

I would crack open all of the injectors and crank the engine till fuel flows out of each of them close them back and it should run. then with the engine running open them back up one at a time to get all the air out.

I hear a clicking sound when i turn on the key.. till the wait to start light goes out, no sound after that. I took the filter back out to check the seal, everything looks good there,topped it off with fuel before i put the FF back in..the fuse looks good. I opened the injectors on the drivers side, cranked over the engine, still no fuel out off the FF or the injectors.Is there a lift pump on the engine too help get the air out, and where is the pump located.

your problem is between the tank and the IP nothign to do with the injectors. You should hear a chugga chugga chugga like a fish tank pump right about underneath your feet on the frame rail. Thats where the LP is. Its looks EXACTLY like a fuel filter for a gasser in that same year except it has wires coming out of it. You can also run a positive 12 volt to it and ground the black wire and afro it to see if its working. If it doesn't go chugga chuga chugga its dead. If it does go chugga chugga chugga, open that bleeder on the FF (the black thing on the top) and keep it jumped and make sure you get diesel coming out of the bleeder. It sounds like your having a problem between the tank and the IP so the LP is the first place to check.

I just got back in from trying the 12 volt to the LP, and it's not coming on, so hopefuly this is the problem.
