1999 7.3 Won't Start
My dad went out to start his truck this morning and got nothing. He charged the batteries and they both read 12.5 volts. Turned the key on, went to crank it and got a couple of little ticking sounds like it does when the batteries are low or dead. He rechecked the voltage and they were still saying 12.5v. Is there anyway to test the starter? I'm stumped.:humm:

What is the voltage when he is cranking? You could test the starter but would need an clip around amp probe.
I would guess loose cables at the batteries. |
voltage never changed when cranking. It ended up being a worn out starter.

So the truck is mobile again then?? :U:
|
assume the problem is fixed.
