Shot in the dark: Cant get passenger side low beem to work
 

I got a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins. The passenger side low beam will not work at all. Bulb is fine. Dont know where to look next. When changing over from High to Low somtimes there is a delay on the low beams kicking on. Both high beams work. Any help would be great since I use this truck every night on the highway and really dont need a ticket.

I would suggest getting a tester to see if you have power to the connector first. Also check the connectors themselves. I had one go bad on me (it tested fine with the meter, but it did not make contact with the bulb). If the driver's side headlight works, it's not likely to be the relay in the power distribution center, but it couldn't hurt to check it and swap it with a different one just to be sure.

Try a different bulb also.

bulb was swapped to see if it worked on drivers side and it did so that eliminated the bulb issue. Going to try a new connector tomorrow:ph:

pull your headlight switch out of the dash and look over the plug and the wires. they are known to go bad and overheat and melt and then not work.

Sory for taking long to get back. Update is..... I pulled the switch out of the dash and nothing is melted what so ever so I think I can rule that out. I tested the plug which attaches to the back of the light bulb I have roughly 11.43 amps so I think that is fine I noticed one thing though, the stalk where you flick from high beam to low beam might be an issue. While I was attempting to test the connector I noticed that neither of the low beams were on, so I went back inside the truck and just twitched the stalk not enough to change from high to low beam it was just enough to move it alittle and that made the low beam kick on on drivers side but still nothing on the passenger. So i am out in the blue yet any help ?

The stalk can be a bit of an issue on some trucks, but the lights will work on both sides or not at all if the stalk is the culprit. I don't know how this will apply to you, but when I had the exact same problem, I tested the socket and it tested fine, however I noticed that one of the pins did not look like the others. It was bent in such a way that it did not make contact with the wires on the bulb. All I had to do was pull the pin out, bend it back and reinsert it. I don't have picks unfortunately, but it's relatively easy to tell.
Also, I ended up for peace of mind getting a wiring harness from Summit that powers the lights directly from the batteries, and uses relays powered from the original bulb sockets to turn the lights on and off. The exact model I have is no longer available, but I know they have another model available to replace it. I will do some searching. The advantage of this is that you no longer have to worry about melting the light switch due to the load put on it from the headlights.
