2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Starting Issue

Its simple it just wont start. I had it out yesterday to get inspected everything went fine, brought it home and parked it in the driveway on a slight decline. Went to drive it last night and it wont start, all it does is crank over and crank over. Truck has a new injection pump and a new lift pump about 6 months old on it. Little more than a quarter tank of fuel. The whole truck is basically stock. I have fuel pressure up to the the fuel filter, any ideas why it wont fire?:argh:

crack yer injector lines 1,3 and 5 at the head about a half turn................19mm wrench, then bump the starter to command a 30 second run on the lift pump..........do that severl times and as each injector line gets fuel weeping out tighten it back up

thanks I will give that a try and see what happens:U:

sounds like you have lost yer prime for some reason?????????

maybe a hole in yer pickup ttube inside the tank or a hole in the suction line to the lift pump

is yer lift pump the OEM style?

Turbohunter 12-11-2008 10:16 AM

Lift pump is OEM.... I ran low on fuel when I parked it so I filled it this morning... I am thinking I lost the prime as well but really am not sure how to get it primed with no air?

Put more fuel in it too,my truck started running out of fuel at 1/4 tank.
I'm betting that you just have a loose fitting like Whitmore said.
Or your VP 44 is T.U. again :booo:

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Just take the fuel line loose at the IP,and run it into a coffee can or something, once you have good flow there then put it back on,bump the starter a couple of times to make sure that you get the air pushed up out of the IP,then loosen #1 and 3 if I remember right, then crank on it a little till things start blapping, then tighten them back up,should run.

cracked the lines. got pressure but foamy fuel?

Whit 12-11-2008 10:25 AM

give it a couple more bumps so the air can purge out good

Turbohunter 12-11-2008 10:26 AM

K thanks let me try that

and when ya do go to start it ya will prolly hafta give it some throttle........................when it fires its gonna sound bad and shake like a cummapart till all 6 get bangin
