anyone have an idea whats going on with the a/c that doesnt blow cold air, for some reason i dont think my a/c clutch is engaging, its been hitting 100* for the past 3 weeks and i would love to get this fixed whats your idea

DB Admin 07-29-2008 08:34 PM

get a can of coolent from an auto parts store they have built in gauges now , the gas includes stop leak to , Mine quit blowing cold air and i put 1/2 a can of the stuff from advanced in it and its cold as ice !!

System need recharged, faulty pressure switches, faulty compressor, blown fuse. Chances are system needs recharged.

94cummins12v 07-29-2008 08:40 PM

i bought the recharge kit today, so its not a waist of time to put in now than is it?

DB Admin 07-29-2008 08:43 PM

nope it works good

DB Admin 07-29-2008 08:44 PM

the button locks down so you dont have to hold it down the whole time , make sure the engine is running and max ac is on

94cummins12v 07-29-2008 08:44 PM

even though the clutch isnt engaging?

wildbill 07-29-2008 08:48 PM

If it's too low, it won't kick in. You'll need to run a power jumper to kick it in.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

And if it won't stay kicked in after you re-charge it, check for a blown fuse.

94cummins12v 07-29-2008 08:51 PM

what are you meaning by a power jumper, what put a power wir from the compressor to the battary

MotorOilMcCall 07-30-2008 08:36 AM

Exactly.

Johnny Cetane 07-30-2008 09:23 AM

You can do it that way or look around by your accumulator and find the low pressure switch. Jump those 2 terminals and it should come on even if the system is low. That is a good, fast way to find out if your system is low or if you have other issues. I like this way the best because it will immediately tell you if your electrical side is working correctly or not.

I hope your evap core isn't leaking. :se:

well i tried putting the fluid in the other day and nothing, as soon as i hook it to the port that it is supposed to (only one it will fit) the guages maxes out at 80PSI and i cant get it to work at all it wont suck the refrigerent out of the can, this is the can im using

jfoose 07-31-2008 08:20 PM

If the gauge maxes out I think it means the system has enough freon. Have you tried to manually jump start the compressor clutch?

We are having problems with my brothers 99. If anybody knows what would make the compressor kick on and then instantly off repeatedly we would love to know! Starting to drive us nuts!!:tttt::tttt:

94cummins12v 08-01-2008 01:32 AM

id like to know also my clutch wont even ingage

prromine 08-01-2008 10:21 PM

Have you checked your fuses and relays?
Are you getting power to your a/c clutch?

94cummins12v 08-02-2008 12:06 AM

well all my fuses and relays are good im going to go out tomarrow and see if i can either do a jumper wire or trace to see why its not engaging

94cummins12v 08-07-2008 07:54 PM

well i was able to get the clutch to engage and the ac to blow super cold air by jumping the clutch with a ire to the battary and tried jumping all my pressure sensors but that didnt help im just going to run the clutch wire into the cab and tthrow it on a toggle switch for the weekend but i was wondering if the switch was bad

DB Admin 08-16-2008 02:02 PM

So your Switch was bad?

94cummins12v 08-16-2008 09:14 PM

it must be because i had to put the clutch on to a toggle which doesnt that mean i need a new switch?

welderboy250 08-17-2008 02:25 PM

it may mean ur low pressure switch is bad. do like that other guy said and jumper the wires comin out of it and see if that works first.

94cummins12v 08-17-2008 11:00 PM

i jumped the switch at the bottle looking thing up against the firewall and the switch by the compressor and it still never angaged the clutch

MRaynor 08-26-2008 07:32 PM

Any resolution yet?
