12v No Start

I'm goin to look at a 96 12v thats forsale but as the title says it won't start. :humm: It turns over i believe? Didn't get all the info on it yet. But I know it was running and one day it wouldn't. So I was wondering what some of the simple things there are that won't let a 12v start. I remember something about a fuel shutoff solenoid or something like that? 12v are new to me so as much detail as possible would be great! Thanks :c:

If there isn't juice, check all the fuses. If there is power, it's either the fuel cutoff solenoid or the fuel pump.

The shutoff solenoid is hanging off the pump on the drivers side. Turn the key to run position and pull it up by hand. Its a very common problem. If its a stick you could wire it up and kill it by putting it in 5th and dropping the clutch. Don't do it too often but you can do it till you get a replacement. Other things it could be... Maybe an overflow valve loosing prime etc but if i had to bet i would go with the shutoff solenoid

Could be shutdown solenoid (you can often R&R that for free), bad batteries, or could be fuel related (overflow valve, lift pump - unlikely, air getting in the system somewhere, clogged prefilter etc.).

Follow the above advice first and see how it goes.

Did you get a chance to look at this?

Any day now..... Dudes up north at the moment, he'd said he'd give me a call when he gets back.... Trucks nothin special 2wd long box ext cab lil rusty but its got the motor...... Plus I found out its a 97 :U: But he wouldn't give me a price on it thou till he gets back.... Kinda weird :humm: So if I pull up on the fuel shut off and hold it there the truck should start is what your saying?

Yes. Put your hand on it and have him turn the key. You should feel it pull up. If it does try to pull it up some more, if it doesnt pull up, pull it up manually.
