07 Ford powerstroke 6.0 coded p0046 any help would be amazing

I have code p0046 flashing on my scan tool. I have already change the solenoid and also the pcm, I also had a local shop check all the wiring and the wiring comes back fine. The local shop says I need a new pcm, I already have 2 and the same code is coming up on both so I can t see it being the pcm. I decided today in frustration today to over lay new wiring from the pcm to the solenoid. That plan did not work and I am getting the same codes, the weird thing is that when I test the old pcm I'm getting 10 volt s 1 way and when I turn the tester cable s around I'm getting -8 volts. The new pcm just shows 0 both ways, neither pcm will activate the solenoid and I have zero boost. The only way I can get boost is to jumper the solenoid directly off the battery, witch I'm guessing isn't a good thing to do. I'm at a complete loss and feel like burning the truck to the ground, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hate to revive an old thread but I’m having the same exact issue.... so similar in fact... have you sold the truck?... If so, chances are I’ve just bought it.

I assume the solenoid is 12 volts, and usually they don't drive heavier loads directly off the pcm, usually it will drive a relay, in turn drive the solenoid. Since the original poster tried two pcm's to no avail, probably a bad relay or socket. As for the voltages he was getting, probably his meter battery was low, or a cheap meter. Reversing the leads will reverse the polarity of the voltage shown on the meter. Burnt contacts or bad connection can also cause voltage to read low if you are checking it at the solenoid. (Relay bad)

Since I'm not familar with this system, and just using basic troubleshooting methods, it may not be a solenoid, but a linear motor, in that case, voltage may come directly from the pcm, and is varied to limit the amount of stroke. If it has additional wires (usually three), the movement is monitored by the computer which sets a code if the position is not what the computer expects to see.

The pcm uses PWM to adjust the turbo actuator. I am getting a ground signal but nothing from the positive lead off the PCM. Does anyone have a full diagram of the VGT circuit? The Zeus scanner says the pcm circuit is alive and functioning... but it is not exiting the PCM. I have installed a second turbo for shytz n giggles to no avail.

Not good, sounds like the output transistor is blown in the pcm.

Making headway... I ran fused 12v to the hot side of the vgt actuator and the code is now gone. However I now show under boost codes and have yet to “build boost.”

The cause?!?!?!

Faulty MAP sensor!!!!!!!

I unplugged the MAP and my power was instantly restored!!!

The Turbo has been boosting the whole time. My map sensor is steady at ambient +- Baro. Basically it reads atmospheric and no more. The hose has been cleaned from the barb on the intake to the map inlet itself and checked for leaks.

The truck has treated the bad MAP as a popped off CAC pipe.
