Sudden or unexpected acceleration 2003 powerstroke 6.0l

Ok here is the issue. At random when I am cruising the highway or on city streets my truck will ramp up the rpm and run rough. Normal idle is about 625rpm and when it gets squirrely the rpm runs at around 900rpm. So far with my mechanic we have ran all the scans and I have only had a boost failure code related to the EGR valve which we replaced. There was some air running into the upper fuel filter, but after replacing the o rings on one bank of injectors that stopped. We checked the ICP sensor to make sure it was giving voltage and it is working fine. The truck has 360K on it and I maintain it religiously. Looking for any ideas besides " get a new truck".

Cheers
Pete

is it burning any oil....could be turbo seal letting go letting in oil to burn therefore increase in rpm....just a thought ...scott:humm:

I don't have any blue smoke coming out the tail pipe. Actually it runs pretty clean only under hard acceleration I get the usual bit of black smoke. Checked the turbo same time the o-rings were done and no leaks. Though there is a very small amount of oil in the pipe coming out of the intercooler but that is normal.

And also the way the turbo on the 6.0 is designed there is no way for the oil to get into the intake side of the turbo. Unison ring for the VGT vanes are on the exhaust side and that is the only place oil could get in and it would just burn off.
