2004 duramax wont run

Last week I was driving home and my 2004 duramax died. I got out and primed the fuel and it started, I drove about 1000 feet and it died again. I was able to restart it every time after priming it but it did this the entire way home. I replaced the fuel filter the next day and that fixed it for about a week until it died on my way to work. Like always I was able to prime it and start it again. When I left work I had to prime it but it started up and I drove it 100 miles with no trouble but the next morning it died again. I am always able to get it started again, and it goes a few days at a time without giving me any trouble, but i don't trust it to go anywhere. If this matters, it is tuned with efi live 5 position switch and has a straight exhaust (no cat or muffler). All help is appreciated.

check the wif...water in fuel sencor to see if that is leaking..also look at your fuel cooler conections ..dont know were you live but check for rust..if you still dont find anything i would put about 5 psi air presure in the tank and no more than that to see if you see any leaks....hope this helps....scott:pca1:

how should I go about putting 5 psi of air in my tank?

you can use a shop vac used in revers were it blows instead of sucks...or air compresser with regulator on it turned down to no more than 5 psi....scott:tu:

I ordered a new wif and a new bleeder screw, they should be in Friday. The wif is as tight as I can get it but looks like it isn't on all the way so hopefully a new one will fix it the bleeder screw also appears to be worn out and the head is stripped on it so I got the stainless steel one. I'll let you know if it fixes it

I replaced the wif and it seems to be doing better, no trouble from my shop to my house (I even took the long way home) if it doesn't lose prime overnight and it starts in the morning I will know.

I live in southern Illinois btw. My truck is originally from central Illinois around Springfield I've had it down here for a year. It didn't start this morning after changing the wif so I guess I ruled that out...

And also yesterday on my way home, I lost prime so I got out, primed it up, got in it and started it. When I put it in gear it made a clunking noise and wouldn't go in any gear and the cel came on. I shut it off and waited 5 minutes and when I started it back up it shifted fine and the cel went off. Could a bad nsbu switch cause it to be losing prime and not wanting to run? I wouldn't think it would but I've learned to never rule anything out until you know for sure haha.
