I believe I have fixed my problem. After a new "in tank" fuel pump , which was not bad , but between the +- data link shielded wire and the plug that goes into the back of the injection pump , we are up and running again:jump: I'm still getting a "flat" spot when I'm moving at various speeds though. Hope it's just trying to relearn the computer . Going to find out today. Look out Bambi I'm heading your way pretty soon:tu:

Cummins loss of acceleration

It has never died on me though. When it's at idle , it's fine , but as soon as you try the accelerator , it's like it wants to go , it revs up to 1400-1500 rpm real fast , but just as fast it goes back to a constant 1000-1100 rpm . No more no less. It has only a couple of times "popped" right at first when I started it, but then idled fine. I have checked every wire in the engine compartment. Ground wires too. I'm really stumped . I've seen a couple of similar threads on these symptoms , but I have not seen a solution . I would be very grateful for any help I can get. Thank you for your time. There is not enough time in the day , I really do appreciate you allowing me to occupy some of yours !!!:s:

When my 03 did that it was the throttle position sensor I had to replace which was 400$ and fixed the problem over a year ago never done it since. It would just happen out of nowhere. Sounds like exact same thing mine did. But I do not know if 01 has the same set up or not. I'm no expert is why I found this site.

03 shares the same tps sensor, but it has a different fuel system

I have been driving the truck this week, I'm waiting on a TPS to be delivered , but the truck starts (rough at first) then after warming up it does o k but I am still getting the dead pedal . I have to either let off the pedal or kind of pump the pedal until she goes, it's a pain but I think that the TPS should remedy the problem. I also believe that the shielded wire , (data link + -) has or had a lot to do with it. I am having trouble finding the wire NAPA has not found it yet for me . does anyone know where to get it?:humm:

every pump i have had with a dead pedal shortly bombed

that's what I'm expecting. :td: But , I'm looking at the bright side, I've already got my new exhaust , Going to order a Fass system including the IP then it ought to be good for another 300 thousand or so. I 'm grateful for the advise and suggestions

Well after I had to have my truck towed home night before last , on the way back to a jobsite< had to pull into a church lot and shut it down. Sounded like a can rattling around in the engine. The 2 outside threads of the fan belt were gone. wrapped up around the pulley(s) . unwrapped them, put a new belt on it , the starter (NEW) spins but, does not grab the flywheel . or that's what it sounds like. :s: I can't take to much of this new 1/2 ton, no gear shift knob having , 4 door hemi... HELP

Well, the torque convertor is done, I think that will cover the noise(s), and maybe a speed sensor, but, before I put it on the road it's fuel upgrade time and exhaust. I am kind of stumped though. My 01' stock Cummins does NOT have a lift pump. If I mount one where it normally goes , where should I connect the wire from the lift pump ? or does it matter? I am not going through this again , I hope. I already have the pump and exhaust. Been plumbing way to much !!! Want to go hunting !!!:dang:

Well still having issues , I installed new injectors from DSS , also a poormans sump , 1/2" line to anew aftermarket pump (air tex) that I had . New . my return leaks at the tee sometimes . where is the best place to tie it back in ? also , the truck runs great but, it is hard to start after I shut it off unless I let the pump cycle for a while . I'm getting grey /white smoke when I start it up. fuel pressure is 16-18 wot or idle ,I 'm turning 300,000 this week . thanks for any help. it is greatly appreciated .

That leaking return T is allowing air into the injection lines. White smoke on startup=air and hard starting. It's a sealed system, and it's got to stay that way. :w2:

I would also recommend resseting the apps, sometimes with the problem you were describing with the wiring the ecm can lose it's reference points for throttle position creating flat spots or reduced travel inputs. Resetting the apps is free, easy, and just might help, if you replace the unit it still needs to be done.
