Ford idi won't start

Hey everyone I have a 1991 ford f250 with a 7.3 idi in it. It has the banks sidewinder package, automatic tranny, 165k miles and the other morning it was colder than it ever has been where I live and I tried to start it and it cranked and cranked as usual and almost turned over but didn't. I could hear the batteries starting to get weak because I cranked it so much, so I just have up and took my gas saver to school. When I got home I tried to turn it over and everything in the cab had power (stereo, lights, headlight etc.) but when I turned the key to try to fire it up I only got a loud click and that was it. I crawled under to tap on the starter solenoid but that didn't help and all my connections look good. I tried to jump it with my 22re toyota but it didn't help it. If I could get some light on this that would be great because I really hope I don't have to put on a new starter and redo all my electrical. Thanks again,
-Andrew

I would check glow plugs, and when you say it only clicked, do you mean the starter didn't rotate, it only had a loud click as you turned the key?

The starter didn't rotate it was one solid loud click as I turned the key to turn it over.

if possible have someone tap the starter with a hammer while you have the key in the start position, this is a regular thing for me in me 95 f150, it blows through 6 starts yearly, although that might have to do with a 9 year old battery that's been in the hot arizona summers :ouch:
