Help with my 03 Dodge diesel not starting
Hi to all kinda new to this so bear with me, I have an 03 Dodge 2500 6sp, Edges Juice with Attitude, 4" straight turbo back 5" tip, 35" tires. My lift pump went out a couple months back a diesel mechanic had a lift pump from a 02 Dodge Diesel, gave it to me and said it would work fine. Having problems staring, I checked the oil and its not making extra oil, my grid heater light comes on along with my lift pump for 3 sec. then both shut off, I have to bump my starter to get the lift pump to stay on, then it takes several tries then starts, I think I have some bad injectors. Just wanting to see it the lift pump might be my problem:humm: any help would be appreciated.

I may be off here but I dont think that lift pump will work. A 2002 Dodge has a 24v Cummins that uses a VP-44 injection pump and a 2003 uses a CP3. The big difference is that your 2003 is a Common rail truck and is using a higher pressure fuel system. I havent owned a Common rail truck but I am pretty sure a lift pump off a 2002 wont work on a 2003.

Check to make sure your fuel tubes are seated correctly.
we can test injectors for $15 each. you can also check them in the vehicle. |
Thank you for the response, just moved out of state and not having any luck finding a trust worthy mechanic to help with the testing, all my tools are back home. Need to make a trip to get the rest of my stuff.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- I checked them and found nothing, what kinda pressure should I have at the lift pump ? |

Wasay Thnks to al that eplied to my issuewith my truck, I was given some wrong info my lift pump . Its off a 1999 dodge diesel, not a 2002 like I was told. :dang: I'm going to check by pressure and see what I have, if it is my lift pump how hard is a FASS 95 gpm to install.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Thanks to everone for helping e with my issue on my truck, just found out Ihave aift pump form a 1999 not a 2002 dodge ( call me dumb @$$):argh: for not doing some research, I will be checking the PSi on this lift pump. If it is the lift pump I want to installl a FASS 100, or should I go with a 150 |
