PLEASE HELP!

Okay here Is my problem I've got an 04 dodge 2500 has 174k 4x4 no mods except intake. I got the truck with a blown motor. So I got a new block. Rebuilt it top to bottom with arp hardware. Put the motor in the truck and all it did was crank. Checked my fuel pressure and I was barely coming out of the cp3. So I put a new pump on it along with a new fuel rail pressure sensor. Replaced the fuel delivery tubes. Still no fire just cranks. I don't have a check engine light. I unplugged the cam and crank sensors one at a time to see if the ECM is reading them, and they both threw codes. Also unplugged the FCA and no start as well. I can hear the injectors go threw I guess a system check when I first turn the key on. There was a long 10gauge wire on the driver side of the engine. That reached both the negative battery post and the body ground. I installed it to the body? Is that wrong?

Someone please help me I'm in dire need of this truck running.

Not to rude but sounds like you'll need someone that has a decent scan tool and the ability to diagnose the vehicle. Unplugging the sensors and getting a code DOES NOT correlate to a correctly working sensor. Just that the circuit is working. And replacing fuel system components prior to diagnosis is somewhat pointless. Hope this helps.

I've had it at a shop and they can't seem to figure it out. So I'm just trying to get ideas.

Does you're shop have a information service such as all data? There is a 15 page flow chart provided by the manufacturer for no/hard start issues. A qualified shop would view fuel flow to the cp3 before continuing and use something like a oscilloscope to view injector waveforms. Has you're shop informed you what type of rail pressure is being produced? Do we have any idea if its fuel or electronic in nature. There are literally THOUSANDS of things that would cause this. 90% of the time it could be ruled out to a handful of likely causes. It is pointless to try and diagnose it over the internet, we can give you suggestions but it'll take far longer than it would to have an experienced tech fix the truck.
The things I would think from a quick look at your post would be l/p fuel delivery system or a possible cracked injector which had caused the original engine failure. Take into account that the cp3 will make NO pressure when open to the atmosphere. In other words the fuel will not "spray" out under pressure unless the system is closed.

Also tell them to post their questions on iatn.com tech help. If I see cummins stuff I usually try to help.

Lift pump is putting out 14psi. They haven't told me what the cp3 is putting out. I plan on asking them tomorrow cause that will either tel me if there is a leak or bad injectors. Or if there is an electrical problem. I understand that there needs to be a minimum of 3000psi to fire the injectors.

L/p is checked by volume not pressure but typically 14psi equates to decent flow.

okay thats what i figured. when i was cranking the engine over thew #1 injector was getting between 12-14v. it spiked to 22v once. so idk if thats enough to fire it? but i was stumped so i sent it to the shop. tomorrow ill have more info on what the ecm is reading for rail pressure.

Maybe I didn't see it but did you bleed the injectors??, if that needs to be done on these motors. I'm not too familliar with these but it could be the issue.

With a common rail its never a good idea to bleed fuel from a cracked lines. That's to much pressure to play with. I imagine the nut design would prevent injury but the line may be damaged.

makes sense, told you I wasn't sure on these motors,,,,Next:pca1:

I still have a gut feeling my injectors are bad. But I will see what the shop says on what my fuel pressure is reading on the scan tool.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Okay called the shop. They said that the FCA was bad that they put in. And the reason they put one in, was because the one on the brand new pump I put on was also bad. Tech said he did a rattle test that alldata said to do and he says mine doesn't rattle. So they are installing another one. I asked what my fuel pressure is at the pump and he said 22psi. Which I tought was good? He said my rail pressure should be between 2200 and 6000 at cranking? So I asked him what it's at now! And he said he don't know.

You need to find a shop that's qualified or atleast knowledgeable. At this rate I would be very concerned that his reasoning on replacing the fca was a "rattle" test. That's way off base and not an adequate diagnosis. Ask them if they've used a manufacturer flow chart to diagnose you're truck?
