2001 Dodge 2500 tranny problem

I am having an issue with my tranny and thought this would be the place to ask. So my original thought is that my transmission is going out, but I would think that if it were it would slip a lot? right? but it doesn't it only has a hard time shifting from one gear to the next the only way it will shift is if I let off the diesel pedal (its not a gas pedal) lol... but i was hoping some of you guys would have some input on what it might be or do just need to suck it up and buy a new tranny.

Thanks

sounds like your tv cable could be misadjusted.

Thanks for the info, this may seem like a silly question but where is the tv cable located? and is it pretty easy to adjust for someone who doesnt work on trucks much?

you can adjust it from the apps. remove the plastic cover so you can watch the cable then there should be a white retaining clip thats holds the cable adjustment near the back of the bracket. push in on the clip and I would slide the cable a little bit foward and try it there. Might have to adjust a few times to get it right.

Ill check into that this weekend. thanks for your help. I have also hear that replacing the govenor solenoid and sensor in the tranny my help?

MillerBoyzDiesel 03-08-2013 09:14 AM

well usually my exp. with that has been erratic shifting and/or default to 3rd at take off. Might be worth checking on scan tool.

Might also want to do a fluid/filter change and adjust the bands while the trans pan is off.
