01 cummins injection pump PLEASE HELP

What's up all,

I have an 01 dodge 24 valve with a FASS lift pump (1/2) line, quadzilla adrenaline, intake, turbo back to a stack. My problem i think is the injector pump. The tried starting the truck one day and it wouldn't start. First i checked the filters both were fine and were flowing fuel. Then I backed the 1/2 line out of the injector pump clicked the truck over and got fuel out of the line. I reconnected the line and clicked the truck over and had my brother feel the injector pump not working. I saw in the fuse cluster that their is a relay for the fuel system is it more likely the relay went or is it that the pump seized? I did all of this with the quadzilla removed from the truck. The truck ran perfectly before I tried to start it. It does have 212,000 miles on it and I want to upgrade to a Industrial hot rod vp44 but I don't have the cash right now. I really wanna get this truck running again so il take any advice. Thanks in advanced.

Have you tried bleeding the injection lines? Checked for codes?

If your horn works, try swaping the relays

I didn't want to crack the injectors because I knew the pump wasn't working and the truck isn't throwing any codes. Ill try switching the relay. That's a great idea thanks

Have you checked for DTC codes? You need a scanner for this.

I think you should try bleeding the lines. You don't have to do all of them. Just loosen 1,3,&4 at the head. Then just bump your starter and let the fass run. Tighten them up when they start dripping fuel. Here is some more reading for you VP44 Diagnostic

Thanks Bryce when I get home il do that.

Im with Bryce, Ive had it on mine where the somehow the pump lost prime sitting there. All i did was crack the lines and run my LP til fuel came out. Then tighten them up and try starting it

If you do have to replace the pump, forget about the hot rod vp. With your quad it wont make any more power than a standard output. The so pump will actually make better power in the higher rpms than the hot rod. Spend that money you save on something else like trans upgrades, bigger turbo, injectors, ect.

I finally got around to cracking the lines and Doing as you told me to do and I didn't get any fuel at the lines. I bumped it 4 or 5 Times. I tightened the injector back up and tried starting just to try and nothing. I'm diein over here. Sorry to keep bringing this up

Sounds like a dead VP44

Yea, it seems that way. Is their anyway to be 100% sure if it's the pump?

You could supply the pump with a known good 10 psi of diesel fuel and stand alone the pump and then bleed the lines. It would rule out ecm and low pressure fuel system.

Crack the lines and try a few more times. When my fuel gauge quit on me and I ran my truck out of fuel it took several lift pump cycles before I got fuel to the injectors. Also you might take the overflow valve off and see if it is stuck open.
