5.9 cummins making a whistling noise

I have a Country Coachman 2007 with a 5.9 Cummins engine. The best I can describe it is a whistle noise comes out of the exhaust. 5 short whistles then a 2 to 3 second delay and the whistle is repeated. This is at idle. I have a link to a video where anyone may listen.

I recently changed the fuel filters, also the fuel pressure release valve FPRV seemed to be giving me issues so I capped it. The noise in the exhaust was present prior to that. I also have a check engine light but do not have a way to diagnose. I had a message on my display stating the battery was being overcharged. When I hit the brake that message disappeared. Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm, Im guessing that they have a VGT Turbo on it possibly the controller may be misreading? I would try to see what your CEL is saying that will get you pointed in the right direction.

I have the Check Engine Light codes

I added some photos of the messages. They are for the Turbo but some are different. 6 messages.

hmm, I will be honest straight forward IM not as familiar with VGTS as I am with fixed vane turbos. I would possibly check your voltage on your batteries with the engine off and then check it with the engine on give it some time though first. With the engine off check for over 12 volts and when its running check for 14. I wish I knew more about VGTS, but maybe you can google it or even call the manufacturer.

I do get a message when I start the RV stating I am bast the threshold of 13.4 volts. When I tap the break the auto idle turns off and the message goes away. When I took a test drive I watched my battery charge and it was always over 13.4 but no message. While on the test drive I did have the check engine light, which was the turbo but the CEL eventually went off.

Does it continue to do it after you drive it?

After warmup and a few miles it turned off. I need to do another test run. I was to travel 2.5 hours this weekend but not sure about making the trip.

Also look for loose or coroded wire connections. :c:

Where you located and how cold is it there, but yes I should have mentioned the simple things first. :argh: On your turbo there should be a connection for it pull it and check it and check you BATT terminals too to start simple.

Could also be a connection at a different sensor that controls the turbo, like a map, or temp sensor, I really have no idea how the VGT's work but they have to get info from somewhere. :c:
