New to this diesel life But lov-n it.
I have a 1985 Chevy step van/P30/ bread truck 6.2 liter non turbo diesel with 4l80 auto trans. I am a Chef that is looking to convert this into a RV and tow a trailer kitchen around the USA to fairs and festivals and sale Magnificent Food at the events.
It has 300,xxx miles on it now and i want to rebuild the drive train. |

Alright, what Cumming will swap with the 6.2 liter with minimal mods and will tow the trailer i have to tow. I will be in mountainous regions in my travels.
The chassis is a 1985 P30/step van /bread truck about 20 footer. |

6BT Cummings swap
Thank you for this info, the 6BT Cummings is a non electronic? what years should i look for and what transmission will work with this. The existing trans is a automatic.
Also is this 12volt or 24volt or does it matter. Again thanks. |

Again thank you Ranchhand TCR and good luck with your conversion.:tu:

Your welcome, Im doin this conversion for a friend and practice run for when I go to do mine HAHAHA!!! Good luck to yours too!

They came stock with a 4BT.
If you're running around the city, probably a better choice that an 6BT in both cost and fuel mileage. 4BT's don't go cheap though.... Edit: see my reply in your "6.2 non turbo" thread. |
