Old New Guy

Hey Bombers! I am new to this forum, been around on some others. I am 65 yrs. old, live in Southeastern California Desert. I am a Widower, a Vietnam Veteran, I no longer work, but when I did I was a Mechanic, starting on cars, then working up to Medium and Heavy Diesel Trucks. I am also a Disabled Veteran, thanks to exposure to Agent Orange, and I have a host of medical problems. But I try to keep on smiling and enjoy Drag Racing to try to keep me young. I have had several diesel pickups, a 1997 F350 w/ Powerstroke, then a 2004 F450 4x4 crew cab dually w/ a 6.0 Powerstroke. After owning the 2004 Ford, and going through the ordeal of owning such a nice truck, with such a P.O.S. engine, and dealing with 3 different Ford stores, I traded down for a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 Quad cab 4x2 dually w/ 5.9 24 valve Cummins and Automatic. I am very happy with the drivetrain in this truck, but less than enthusiastic with any Dodge dealer I have dealt with. I think my next truck will be a Ford truck of some year to be determined with a Cummins powerplant. May be hard to get away with here in SoCal, and all the smog rule enforcement. In the mean time, I tow my 1983 Mercury Capri drag car in a 20' Pace American enclosed trailer with my Dodge with a 9' 6" 2005 Lance 935 cabover camper, and try to make 2-3 races a season as my health permits. Keep on Truckin!! Dale
