Traded in 2000 5.9L for 2008 6.7L...buyers remorse?
Traded in my 2000 2500 5.9L Sport for a 2008 2500 6.7L and after reading all the posts about the DPF, EGR etc. etc. I am not sure I did the right thing?
The 2000 was a 2500 4x4 Auto Sport with a topper and only mod was a Volant airbox. The 2008 is a 2500 Bighorn bluetec HD Auto stock. I was looking to upgrade to 4 doors and get a quieter diesel which it is but not getting the same kind of performance as far as MPG go. My 5.9L would get a consistent 16mpg In town driving empty and high 19 goin down the highway empty at 70. The 6.7L never gets better than around 14 driving in town and 16 on the highway. Read a ton of posts on DPF\EGR delete confused about the best way to go? I do very little towing if any. Pull a 2 horse trailer occassionaly thats about it. I want to maintain as much stock parts and operation as I can. I don't need anymore power. I am looking to extend the life of the motor and increase MPG. May be pulling a camp trailer in the future...getting close to retiring. This could be my last truck and I want to make it last. |
