I am 68 yrs old and retired from John Deere in Coffeyville, Ks. We live on a small 90 acre farm, We both love to travel , fish, camp, and I love to hunt.

Welcome to Diesel Bombers! I myself have been working for Deere for 7 years now. 2.5 on the Ag side, and 4.5 on the Construction and Forestry side.
There are a great bunch of guys here and a wealth on knowledge. If you could fill out your signature with the details of your truck it will make future diagnosis easier. Things like year, make, model and any modifications are appreciated.

I have a 1999 Dodge 2500 Quad cab, 5.9 Cummins & auto transmission, and on our vacation my truck ran ok until we got to the Colorado mountains ( about 550 miles from Kansas), then the low indicator light came on then I lost power and eventually the engine stopped running, I shut the key off and waited about 5 minutes and the truck started and ran good again the rest of the 40 + miles further to our camp ground.

I went to a parts store and bought a FASS lift pump and a fuel filter and changed both of
them at our camp ground hoping that I may have elimanated my troubles.

then when we left to go home it ran ok for about 100 miles then did the same thing again, I repeated the 5 minute wait, started the truck and headed towards home again but the further we went and the miles travled got less (60 miles then 50 miles then about every 45 miles) I would shut the truck off and wait 5 mins, restart again until we made it home. I did notice that while traveling home we drove in a rain storm for approximatly the last 100 miles and the temperature was quite abit cooler and the truck ran a lot better up to the speed of 50 miles an hour, over that speed the truck would start surging.

Would you have any idea as to my problem ?. VP44 ?

i would put a fuel pressure gauge on and see what pressure you got.

Sounds very much like you have a boogered VP-44. I assume you dont have a fuel pressure guage. If not, you need to install one asap.

Get your hands on an OBDII scanner and scan for codes. You will probably see P0216 or P1688.

Does anyone have a GlowShift electrical gauge installed on the dash on a 1999 Dodge 2500, or anywhere else as far as that goes, I need some ideas please..

If I was putting just one gauge in, I'd go for the steering column pod. The picture is wrong on the site for 94-02, pods on the right to make room for the flasher button.
