pre-newbie

Hello everyone, new here today from Western Washington, my title is pre-newbie because I still have yet to decide on which truck I want to purchase. Having a bit of trouble deciding since I've never owned one. I've owned 6 mustangs (two 88 gt's, '95 gt, '03 mach 1, and two 11 sec '03 cobras) and a explorer sport, which I have now. I have driven my dad's '02 F250 7.3 with DP tuner, loved how much power it had with all three settings. Anytime I drove it, it was set on stage 3 lol.
I'm not going to be doing to much towing, just looking for a daily driver truck, that can get decent mpg and can turn it up to out run most people trying to line up with me. Having mustangs most of my driving life, I'm no stranger to speed. Im sure I'll be towing something later down the road. Just want to embarss them with my truck lol. Anyway, just wanted to stop in and introduce myself a little. Looking forward to doing some more research before I purchase by the end of the year. Any ideas on a great plateform to start with??

looking primarily for 02 to 07 year trucks.

Could get an 01 or 02 Ford Stoker. Those years the engines were good and so was the truck. Didn't have front end problems like Dodge does and did, and were more comfortable to sit in than Chevy.

Welcome to the forum! If your lookin for a Ford go with a 7.3, my suggestion would be to find trucks for sale of all 3 brands and drive them and see which ones you like the best:U:

It boils what you want to have problems with. Tranny, injector or head and intercooler problems. Just kidding. I would start with what type body would suite you, single, extended or quad. That will help you narrow down what you really need. I had to have a 4 door truck with lots of room, because of the family So figuring I couldnt afford a mega cab that left me with one option.

I'm not leaning toward any brand really. I like to looks of all of them. I do want a 4 door (crew cab), I love the mega cabs that are lifted, they look sweet. I like the look of the silverado crew cabs. My room mate has a 2500 lifted 6", but it's a gas 6.0. Ford's look great as well. Didn't want the 6.0 diesel anyway, heard of to many problems with them overall. Guess what I'm looking for is something to mod fairly easy and can hold up to the amount of power I want to put in it. I know I will probably have to upgrade some stuff, just like I would a gas engine. When I first started looking at these types of trucks, I want to go with the banks bundles, but reading some threads on here, most people steer away from them, so I'm still learning.
Two guys at work have 06 dodge 2500's. both are 6-spds and they love them. Going to talk to one of my buddy's into letting me drive his. He has an edge tuner on his.
