Virgin post, only happens once

Hello to all, young and old, the new like myself and the seasoned veterans. I've been glued to the site all day doing research and it seems like a great forum.

I'm researching 2nd Gen Dodge 3500's in preparation for my first truck purchase. I've found a 99 Sport with the cummins and may buy it this week. Just need to know what I'm getting into as it's got an issue or two. I'll post those up along with a spec sheet if I buy it.

I was turned on to diesels after living in both Japan and Europe and then returning to the states. They're everywhere in Europe. I wanted something economical as a daily driver since gas was at $4.40/gal. No way in hell I was gonna buy an ugly hybrid so I wound up in an 06' Jetta TDI. It's been a great car and has yielded a best tank of 702 miles equal to 53 mpg.

I've spent a great deal of time on multiple other forums (mostly car related) and have found the knowledge and shared experiences of forum members to be indespencible. I look forward to learning tons and sharing what I learn with others.

Lastly, I look forward to the ongoing banter that makes some forums so much fun and easy to get addicted to. I have rediculously thick skin and take it as well as I put it out (banter of course).

Cheers. :c:

Mike

welcome to diesel bombers, on the 99, u might wanna check and make sure its not a 53 block, they are prone to cracking on the pass side of the motor. have any questions, feel free to ask. :U:

Thanks. I'm there now. Lots of interesting discussion in there.

if you get the 99 make sure you get a fuel pressure gauge also.:U:

Thanks guys. A full set of gauges are in the plans, regardless of what I buy. I don't know if the truck I'm looking at is a 53 block, but I've been reading about watching out for them and where to look. If it is a 53 block, I may buy it anyway because I really like the truck, only I'll offer less for it.

and if it is, look at the side of the block below the exhaust manifold. :c: good luck with it
