I'll be "that new guy"...

Just wanted to say Hey! newb from Findlay Ohio. Talked to a guy here in town and he told me this is the place to go for diesel performance idea's and problems. Been around diesel's since day one as my dad is a semi driver, but just started getting into them on my own about 5 years ago. owned a 1996 Chevy k2500 with the 6.5L td, was a good truck and got great mpg's but i wanted more power! sold that and bought an '85 VW jetta diesel with the 1.8L NA diesel, to get me through so i could save a few bucks... now that thing is a turd! ha but at 40mpg, i dont complain.

late 2007 i bought a 2001 Dodge 3/4ton 4x4 with the 5spd Cummins. first thing i did when i bought it was gages (boost, egt, and FP). then a 4" to 5" exhaust.. over kill yes, but i like it, and that's all that matters right? had it at stock location but wanted a single stack.. so i hacked up the exhaust i had, using the 90 elbow that went over the axle as my straight up, the 45 elbow that pointed out to the stock location as part of my S then bought another 45 to complete the "S" to bright the stack closer to the outside of the truck and then had a piece of straight that i used for the stack.. no its not chrome plated or stainless, but i painted it with flat black engine enamel.. i like the look that it has..

Here's the problems i've had so far... When i bought it, the front actuator wasnt working so i bought a posi-lok for that. Then i found out the little odometer trick and figured out my injection pump was going out and explained why i had dead pedal and horrible mpg's and no power. Hoping i caught it soon enough i replaced the factory lift pump with a BD unit.. That didnt help so i was forced to buy an injection pump. While i had money i bought the edge juice with attitude at the same time.. then the stock clutch exploded.. wanted a Con-O but they were on back order... should have waited but got what i paid for and got a cheep zoom stage 2 or 3 or something rated at 1100ft/lbs that can barely handle what im making with everything stock except the edge. THEN the BD lift pump wasnt making any pressure, thought it was maybe bad/dirty fuel, ran it all through the filter, replaced the filter, put it back in the tank. Now had pressure at start up, but as i drove it'd die off. SO i guessed the unit was failing and upgraded to the Airdog FP100... Come to find out there is a screen inside the BD pump that had gotten clogged. could have saved $400 but in the long run, the BD unit was only making 13psi at idle and would drop to 8-9 at WOT, so im happy i bought the Airdog..
HAD i done my research & wasnt an impulse buyer, i could have saved some coin by pointing out the problems to the stealer.. but i got nailed..

My "plans" for the truck are much bigger than my bank account.. so i hope and dream.. hopefully soon i'll get that 100K/year welding job haha
hopefully my "....'s" dont annoy too many of you guys. i dont know why i do it..

ANYWAY! enough ramble...

Kyle Ball. His father owns Custom Classics. I tried to search for him, but came up empty handed
