2009 DESERT DIESEL NATIONALS!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OK, the schedule for our 2009 race has been finalized. I'm very excited to announce that the 2009 NHRDA DESERT DIESEL NATIONALS will be held at Speedworld Dragstrip on March 7th, 2009!

I'm also excited to announce that ITP Diesel and Strictly Diesel have partnered up to be the primary sponsors of this event this year, I couldn't think of a better person/company to do it with! If all goes well, we will continue to sponsor this event well into the future!

The NHRDA has revamped their racing classes for 2009. The changes are for the better and we hope they will encourage more people to bring out their trucks and race. You can read about all of the new class designations on the NHRDA RACING CLASSES webpage. In a nutshell, the "Sportsman ET" class will be the only "Bracket" class (where you make qualifying passes, choose a "dial-in" and then race based on your dial). All other classes will be "heads up".

We do need help with getting the word out about this event, particularly with the local PSD, Cummins and Duramax crowds. I'm supposed to have a preliminary flyer tomorrow that I will be posting to every internet forum site I sponsor (including this one). I will be printing flyers and taking them to the "Live Tuning" event I'm going to in CA over the 17th and to the Dyno event on the 24. If any of you are doing the pavillions or are aware of any other local diesel get-togethers, please print some flyers and take them. We hope to have the "official" flyers in about a week, at which time I will be getting a bunch printed to distribute to shops and anyone else that wants one.

We also need to get some additional sponsorship in order to get the payouts up to what we need. Nate and I are working on a list of local shops that the NHRDA should check with for sponsorship. They have several different sponsorship levels, a few of which are VERY reasonable...so lots of different shops will have opportinity to get involved. If you have any suggestions for local shops that work on trucks (off road shops, diesel shops, dyno shops, etc.), please post them here and we will pass them along to the NHRDA. This will be the only real hard part having this event this early in the year, not much time to get everything wrapped up.

This year we will be sharing the track with some "Jr. Dragsters" too. This will actually be a good thing as it will give us a break between rounds so we don't have to "hot lap" like last time. I higher truck count actually racing would be helpful for that as well...don't be chicken!

So...get March 7th on your calendars ASAP and start planning to come out and enjoy a day of diesel racing!
