converting a gas to a diesel
help! I have a 1988 dodge W350 dullie dump with a 360 gas 4 sp manual I also have a 1991 dodge 250 with a cummins automatic both four wheel drive . I bought the 91 for the motor to make the 88 a diesel .Side by side looks cut and dry how ever i know ill run into problems with the transmissions . I want to keep the 88 a stick and i know the 4sp wont work + the 88 has 456 gears so im thinking of converting to a NV4500 or 5600 .What parts do i need and where can i get them .Can anyone help or point me in the right direction ? Is there kits available ? Please help ! Got a couple leads on transmissions but thats about it .THANKS

Everything was pretty much mechanical then, so you won't be chasing many electrical gremlins. Now as far as the transmission, find a wrecked truck that has the diesel and a manual transmission. You can get the tranny and adapter plate, and you'll be that much closer to finishing the conversion.

you shouldnt need an adapter plate to get the 4500 to work with the cummins, just the bell housing make sure its for a stick shift and you should be good to go,
Good luck and Welcome to DB:howdy: |
