Newb from San Diego Need help

I have been a pretty happy owner of an 04 Ford F-250 Harley Davidson 4x4 with a 6.0 diesel. It was just stolen last week. I am considering buying the 08 Ram 2500 Laramie with the new 6.7. I've driven it a couple of times and have really noticed that it doesn't have any turbo lag. Very nice. That was my main bitch about the Ford. I am however concerned about the dpf and how many people are having problems with the emisions. I've been advised not to buy the 08 and maybe look for the 05-06.

I've read that you can bypass the emisions. Is this true? Does it help that much?

What do you guys think. Thanks in advance.

Gary

Welcome to DB. I lived in Ramona for almost 2 years but moved about 6 months ago. There are quite a few diesel guys that go drag racing at Qualcomm and at Barona. Mainly Ford guys, but there are a few Dodge and Chevy guys. Good luck in your search. You could always pick up 99-03 7.3 for 20-22k and have lots of money to tweak it compared to a new truck.:rocking:

I have an 03 7.3 up in Oregon. I love it but it's not here. Also if I could find a low mileage one down here I'd buy it in a heart beat. Thanks for the reply.

Welcome to DB:howdy:

Yes you can :":Bypass:": these DPF with a DPF delete kits one of the vendors on here can help ya with that, but you will also need a prgrammer that deletes the codes when it throws them for the straight pipe...Edge, Smarty will do the job just fine

I does help alot to help that monster breathe and to get better MPG's about 3-5 is what ive heard and you can also block the EGR too :choochoo:

One thing to remember with a DPF delete on a new truck is warranty issues. Check out GlamisDunes.com :: Information Regarding Glamis and the Algodones Sand Dunes
Race-Dezert.com
and craigslist. There are plenty of 7.3s out there for sale right now.
