Greetings from the Bush (nowhere Alaska)
Hello all,
My Name is Rob. I manage/repair a fleet of pickups, dump trucks, trailers, excavators, dozers, & other assorted equipment in the middle of nowhere Alaska, logging-related, along with all the infrastructure involved with a small man camp (11 mobile homes, 5 outbuildings, & 2 shops). Float plane or boat access only, totally cut off from the outside world. We are 100% off grid & I am responsible for repairing everything in my world, diesel power generation, overhead power lines, sewer/water system, leaky toilets, leaky roofs, satellite internet, VOIP phone system, road repairs, etc, etc, along with all the other vehicle/equipment repairs & maintenance, basically everything that could need repaired within a 50 mile radius of your house. I am an ASE master automotive/light truck tech with 18 years of experience working on customers vehicles in professional shop's, mostly independent shop's, mostly gasoline vehicles. 8 years ago I took the current fleet job & started doing a lot more diesel work. I still maintain my ASE certs even though I am currently out of the "rat race". With a combined 26 years as a mechanic, I still find myself asking other mechanics for an opinion once in a while, which leads me to the forum. I was born and raised in the Ohio River valley & moved to Alaska at the age of 27 back in 2002. I look forward to learning & contributing to the forum. Thanks for reading my long-winded intro Rob |
