Hello I'm James. I'm new to diesel ownership and have a few questions. First of all I just noticed my dodge has a bit of a shifting issue. And second the damn brake abs light comes on. Got the codesame for the lights "over boost?" The transmission problem is that in drive I have no first but I can shift down and it hits first. Oh and I bought a programmer but am being told it has to be programed before it can be used.

welcome, what kind of tuner? When was last time trans fluid was changed? Sounds more serious, but might help. What year and eng? Did the PO run a programmer?

The programer I got is a hypertext max energy. I know it's a cheap but it was cheap. A NY way trans fluid looked good when I drained it and filter wasn't bad. Oh well ill just rebuild now that I got the manual.

Ya might wanna fill out your signature, with all mods and goodies so we call all see what your working with. Your trans rebuild will be alittle pricey, but the price will vary depending on what your plan/ goal is for your truck, ie: basic rebuild, higher performance with valve body, billet goodies, converter etc..... Also if its gonna be a daily driver, street performance, racing, pulling etc, will all be factors. Good luck!

Ok so here is a list of mods from previous owner, "big ass air filter", new motor 230xxx ago "I think", new trans a "little before that", all from first owner. I'm #3. So no "mods" that I know of. I already have the full swap for an nv4500 5 speed except the pedels.

Guess my first question should have been what year your rig is. Your trans swap sounds challenging.

It's a 98 24v cummins dodge.
