Diesel Bombers - Been here quite a few times already, now joining.

I have already been picking you guys' brains, but instead of googling each topic I decided it would be best to post questions. Some of you guys really know your diesel stuff.

My dad gave me his old 1997 Silverado 6.5L K1500 (he had three trucks) to use for work. Said he has his eye on a newer Duramax. I am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, so I gladly sold my Hyundai (had an office job, now do construction) and took possession of this once fine truck.

Once fine you say? Well, its wasn't too far from the junkyard it turns out. The old gray leather seats have rips, the rear bench was storage for some greasy/dirty stuff, there was a five gallon bucket of sand in the carpet, everything was saturated with dust, one oil filter adapter leak, a power steering leak, the idler pulley was making a racket, the entire right side looks like crap (except for the front fender), the tail gate has at least three dents from backing into things with it down, the headliner was sagging, the rear sliding window is leaking, and so is the top right of the cab....I could go on but you get the picture. That's what happens when you leave a truck in the deer woods.

But there is something about this truck. The more I work on it the more I am determined to get it working right and looking good. Never thought I would fall for a diesel.

Or maybe a man just needs to have a hobby.
