Nubie in Colorado

Hello,

New to this forum, glad to have all the members and their advice available. Not a mechanic by trade since the 60s so have few modern skills. Have owned the following non-farm diesels over the years (I'll save the tractor list for another time)- and show my age with this list.

1958 Mercedes 180D - 1964 to 1982 from 45k miles to 126k miles
1984 Mercedes 300TD - 1988 to 2013 from 118k miles to 458 k miles
1980 Mercedes 240D - 1993 to 1999 from 86k miles to 144k miles
1996 VW Passat TDI - 1999 to 2013 from 14k miles to 176k miles
2006 Jeep Liberty CRD - 2008 to present 18k miles to 71k miles
2011 Freightliner Bluetec - 2013 to présent 0k miles to 16k miles

Most maintenance done by me on these vehicles as needed, all maintenance on the 300TD while in my possession. Glad they have been diesels since not that much outside of routine has been needed on most of them. Clearly I'm sold on diesels for personal and business use and joke I get another one every twenty years or so whether I need it or not.

Now living in the mountains and retired. Every time I climb these hills I take pleasure in the climb that a diesel gives me. The Freightliner is an excellent machine and we enjoy the off-road capability out here that the Jeep gives us. Other hobbies include motorcycles and listening to music.

Glad to be aboard.
