Fuel Shutoff Solinoed
Hello everyone. I figured I would throw this out there & see that hopefully get some answers
1994 12 Valve / bone stock never tweaked It or hopped it up. For some reason after I put (3) Solenoid's on this truck over the past 7 or 8 years they stop working this last one is only a year Old. You have to open the hood & pull up on it to make stay. I was gonna just throw a toggle between it & the battery. For some reason I'm not getting any juice to the switch. Plus it takes a few seconds for it to die with key in hand... & the cruise doesn't work. Hasn't worked in a long time/ I've took it to my local mechanic he gets it working for a short time. Not a Daily Driver/ just an ole fixer upper or Back up truck. Thanks. |
If your starter contacts stick, it will burn up that solenoid pretty quick. There's also a fusible link inline there that burns up at 65 amps. I got a new solenoid from Larry B. Here's his site:
LarryBs.com Dodge On edit: There's also a relay in there that can be causing you problems. |
are you talking fuel shut off or starter.
|
Ok thanks!!! I'll check out the fuse link & the Relay both out; if the starter has anything too do with it would it still crank right up & sound normal or would drag?????
@ Diesel Pap it's the Fuel Shutoff Solenoid stops working!! Hasn't worked in a long time. The alternator quit charging; the fuel shutoff quit working & the cruise quit working.!! One of the mechanics told me it was the computer. He sent it off to be redone because they told him they were outdated & didn't sell them any more so they were going too rebuild mine; then they said they couldn't do it. So I put the old one back in!!!! ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- He done something & re- routed some wires & put something in there to make the alternator charge again.. Now I just have the fuel shutoff solenoid (FSS) & cruise control to try & fix. |
:hellox:The ecu has nothing to do with the issues your having for a 12 valve.
|
you can put a cable on the shut down.
|
A cable!!???
You mean like a throttle cable??!! Go mechanical instead of electrical??!!! ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- The ECU thats what it was!!! Well that's good. One less thing to worry with; sounds like y'all got me going in the right direction to the root of the problem!!!! ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Ill re check everything when I get back home.!!! Thanks again everyone. I'm sure I will be re-posting or replying in a month or so.. |
