New to the diesel world

Question 1:
So i wanted a diesel. Did my research and decided i wanted a cummins. Did more research and decided i wanted the 12 valve. I found one a couple weeks ago and bought it. With my main focuses being fuel efficiency, and having something that is simple and easy to work on/upgrade...did i make the right choice?
From what ive read on these forums, i feel pretty confident about my purchase and ive been tweaking it a little here and there.
Question 2:
My new truck is a 98 club cab long bed 2500, single wheel, auto trans, Laramie with 131k miles and nearly no rust at all, body in good shape, just a couple small dents. I paid $8000 for this truck at a used car dealer. Did i get a good deal? Just curious what these trucks typically go for. the only ones in the area for sale that i can compare to have been modded and/or have 300k miles or more. this truck is bone stock including the automatic tranny (which is obviously a weak link with these trucks)

2wd? If you like it and are happy with it, then it don't matter what price others are. should know that before you bought it. I had a 98, but it was the first 24 valve and quad cab, traded my 92 in on it, had well over 650k on that 12 valve and only had one tranny build and the diff locked up on me. Proper fluid changes and you should have a very reliable ride.

:hellox::tu:You did good, i love my 12valve.
I get around 14-16 mpg city/23-26 freeway
I do recomend you have the kdp dealt with first.(killer dowel pin)
Be careful,ounce you start modding the 12valves, the power can get addicting.:tu:
