New to Diesel

Hi everyone. My name is Brandon and I am new to this site and diesels. I do not currently own a diesel, but that may change in the very near future. Currently, I have a 99 z71 and I am ready to make the move to a 4 door diesel. I do not "need" a diesel and will serve as my daily driver 99.9% of the time. I actually enjoy the bigness of a diesel truck....I feel too cramped other wise.

I have the opportunity to purchase a 2009 4 door 2500 duramax for under 30K; however, it has 88K on the odometer and a previous fifth wheel was installed. Apparently, the previous owner used it to haul bread. On the other hand, there is a 2006 duramax with 78K miles and no fifth wheel or gooseneck, but there is additional monitoring gauges on the dashboard to indicate some type of programming or tuner, maybe?

Bottom line is that I am new to diesel and would love to hear people's opinion on the two trucks. The good, bad and the ugly. I am trying to do my homework.....I cannot afford 4 grand worth of repairs right off the lot or anytime soon....hopefully never.

Thanks for the taking the time to read this lengthy paragraph! Thanks in advance.

Brandon
