As well as protecting your engine, Performance Formula®, as its name implies, also improves engine performance. It achieves this by ensuring clean pumps and injectors, reducing wear on components and restoring lubricity. In addition, the cetane improver in Performance Formula results in easier starting, less smoke and more complete combustion. The net result is more horsepower, torque and miles per gallon. Consequently, a significant cost savings to you. Regular use of Stanadynes Performance Formula will more than pay for itself by savings at the filling station, from repairs and by extending maintenance intervals.

Wow... where to start!

I guess that we will start at the beginning...

This is the story of my '06 Ram 2500 4x4 CTD SPORT.

How I got the truck is a very funny story... My wife and I knew that I needed a new truck for work. Seeing as how she is a accountant we had decided to wait until the end of April when she quit working 60 hour weeks to buy... I was sitting around the house one Friday night surfing the net trying to decide what I wanted when I convinced her to go ride to the dealerships with me for some test drives and so we could figure out how much we need to save up between now and then. First it was off to the GMC dealership. She loved Duramax and not so much the gas engine... At that point she decide we needed a diesel... Who am I to argue with her???... Well all they had was the classic body style and I decided that if I was gonna drop 45-50k on a new truck I didn't want it to look old in two months when the new body style came out. So off we went to the Dodge dealership... where I had already spotted the truck I wanted earlier in the week..:w2: I thought that being fresh out of the GMC she would hate the ride of the Dodge... But the first thing out of her mouth was "THIS IS A TRUCK!" she decided she liked the truck feel of the Dodge more than the Car-Truck GMC. When we came back to the dealership the salesman wanted to know if we wanted it... I told him not right now... He proceded to tell me that someone had ordered it and then backed out at the last min and they needed to unload it FAST! Besides he added after noticing the Fire Dept tags on my truck... It's fire engine red! I kinda laughed and said sure if we can get it for "x" dollars a month. (REAL lowball number) seeing as how they where closing he got my name and number and said he would call me the next day... On the way home I was BUGGING the hell out of my wife about how I wanted it... She laughed at me and told me if they would sell it for what we offered we could get it... Wrong move on her part! :f: Well after the phone call the next morning and A LOT of paperwork I left the first of MANY black marks in my new CTD pulling out of the dealership's parking lot! Later that night I asked my wife if she let me get the truck to shut me up and she said no... She said she went on the test drives to prove to me that we could not buy a truck for what I thought we could and it kinda back fired on her... :tttt: That's how we got where we are!

Once I had the truck I needed to find a good place to brag about it and figure out how to make it better... I started on ANOTHER site for a few days until :hi: GREAT a BRAND NEW site for me to join! Well I joined in one of the first givaways and won a silverline 4" exhaust... Funny story about that... I was in Martinsville at the Cup race sitting in a potajohn reading the newspaper when the e-mail on my phone went off... When I read, it I let out a yell... The guy in the potajohn next to me left in a hurry... I don't know why ... After the exhaust went on it was time for gauges... A call to Vulcan Performance took care of my engine... Now that I could monitor my EGT's, boost, and tranny temp I could really run this truck like it deserves to be run. The addition of a K&N filter helped to get some air into the engine to cool it off and build a little more boost at low RPM's. Seeing as how I am a Volunteer Fire Fighter here in my home town I also installed some red LED's in the grill and had personal plates that now say "ENGIN"... All of these were added by me with the help of a couple friends... Beer has always been cheaper than shop labor in my experiance.

The truck has served me very well in my job, I'm a salesman for a truss company here in VA, it carries me around to job sites and even hauls some material out when I can't get it shipped on one of the company trucks. On the weekends, it never balks at towing my 21' boat to the landing and even has launched it off a beach a few times. When we're not water skiing or fishing on the boat it pulls my quad to the local riding spot. Never once has this thing let me down yet!

My Rig's story

It all started whe I was waisting time online (when I was susposed to be studying for a test). I had always wanted a CTD, so I thought that I would look online and see if I could find a deal. I found a 2005 2500 crew long in fire engine red with almost everything I wanted in Texas. I called them and they started the paperwork on it the next day. They called me back and told me the payment, I was shocked at how high it was. So I said that if I can afford that I might as well look at a brand new one with everything I want.

I built it online with al the options I wanted and printed it out. Took it to a dealer in Marion, IL since that was close to where I was living in college currently. Went straight in to the showroom and told the first person to help me I needed a price on a brand new CTD. His eyes just lit up with money signs lol I sat down with him and he tried to talk me into leather and other things but I said NO, this is what I want and nothing else. Told him that I was going home for the weekend so I also was going to get a price from the dealer at home. Basically he went to talk to his boss and came back and told me to go get my best price and they will BEAT it by $2000, guaranteed. Ok, if you say so.

Went home and walked in to the dealer and haneded him the build sheet and told him I needed my best price with trade in of my 01. Told him the story from the other dealer and he said OK, if they say so, we will see. He comes back about 10 minutes later with a quote of $25k with trade, I still owed $7k on it so lets say $32.

Went back to Marion, IL on Monday and gave them the quote. 35-40 minutes later he came asking for my keys. After their mechanic looked at the truck for another 30 min or so they finally came back and handed me my keys, saying :q:Congrats Travis Goeckner Bros just sold you a truck, get the @&*# out and quit wasting our time:q:

I called Goeckner Bros and told the sales man to order it and he said that he had already done so because he was wure that they could not beat it.

Anyway, when it came in I picked it up at the dealer and drove it off the lot with 13 miles on it. I had never driven a stick before so it was a learning experience to say the least.

I ordered it as a work truck, but my life has since taken a different path so it is now a daily driver/toy. I have instaled Guages, Muffler delete, and an AFE torque tube to date. I have many plans for the truck but I am a young buck, jsut graduated college and moved to the coast, so money is not in a great plenty yet.

I do all of the maintance and mods on this truck myself. You should have the people at the apartment complex when I changed my oil a few weeks ago, priceless. Since new the truck has had a bath every calendar week only missing one since it extremly cold for two weeks straight. With all of that being said here are some pictures of my truck for you all to enjoy.

Well to start off my truck is a Regular Cab 2X4. It has a full custom paint job of Viper Black and Prowler Orange. I recently redid the seats in a two tone Black and Grey Pleather. It has 5" Mitre cut stacks and a toolbox that is flush to the top of the bed rails and sits inside the bed behind the stacks. my truck is truely one of a kind. It has shaved door handles with remote poppers, a shaved body line and 5% window tint all around. It is rolling on Eagle Alloy 5 star aluminumn wheels and Maxxis Commercial 235/85/16. My truck has 370 Injectors, 191 Delivery Valves, 4KGSK, 100 plate, HTT Quick Spool Manifold, HTT 71 Series 64/14 Turbo, K&N FIPK, Snow Stage 2 Methanol Kit, NOS Nitrous Kit, Goerend Built to the hilt Transmission with a tight Tripple Disc Converter, Mag-Hytec Tranny Pan, GM rear wheel cyl. upgrade. It has all Autometer Pro-Comp Boost, Pyro, Tranny Temp, Drive Press Gauges. HID's, Tripple Train Horns, and rolled in bed liner. Aux. tranny cooler and fan under the cab.

The story behind this truck is kind of funny. I never really had the use for a big truck like this one. I had a friend that had some financial troubles, a business went under, stuff got repo'd and he had to file Bankruptcy. He was starting back doing vinyl siding and needed a truck to pull the equiptment trailer as his Explorer wouldn't do it. At the time I was into street racing and drag racing in general so I kind of needed something to pull with. He found this truck that ended up being a steal at a local dealership. It was all black, every pannel had some dings or dents, the passenger side fender flare was busted and the bedside was gouged behind the flare where someone jack knifed a trailer. The radio didn't work, the cruise control didn't work, and it had bent up simulators on it. It ran strong and would do anything we would ever use it for. We made an agreement that I would sign for it and he would make all the payments on it and when he got over the bankruptcy deal he would get it financed in his name. Well a year and a half later, after over 12 late payments and 4 payments behind (over 2 K out of my pocket to keep my credit up and in good standing) I repo'd the truck from him and started bringing it back up to speed. The driver side window regulator was bad. the radio was gone. A couple months later the fuel shutoff solonoid and starter went bad in the same day. I started with window tint and making the beginner mods. Exhaust, starwheel adjustment, and fuel plate. Then it got modded more and more until it is what it is today.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a78...reblurcopy.jpg

I prolly did 90% of all the work done to this truck. My painter did all the finish painting I did some of the primer. I did alot of the body work. Darren Morrison helped me install the delivery valves and injectors, and Ray williams does some of the stuff I don't feel like doing like valve cover gaskets, brakes etc.

I'd classify my truck like being in the National Guard. One weekend a month and two weeks a year..... lol.... well not really but that is what it feels like. It's a weekend warrior. It's a tow truck when i need something moves and a race truck when I need to put a Honduh driver in their place. There are definately days that she has been rode hard and put up wet.

My truck is featured on Goerend Transmissions website www.Goerend.com and was nominated for Truck Of The Month on DTR and held it's own against 2 other 4X4's but I was beaten by a far superior truck than mine.

2000 F-350 PSD srw 6" skyjacker coil-over w/ 36" truxus sts swampers, Warn bumper with 15,000lb warn winch, swamps f* mes injectors, H2E turbo, wipeout headstuds, 3.5" Downpipe and 4" to 5" dual stacks, some gauges, regulated return, modded idm, swamps tuned 6 position chip. I really need dual oil pumps but to do that im gonna need some type of fass pump to push the fuel to the motor so this would be a good present for me

Ive done all the wrenching myself (its a pain with that brushguard up front lol). Ive owned the truck for 2 years now and just keep on adding parts to the list. Maybe one day ill have it the way i want it.

I acquired the truck from a offroad shop i worked at and it was a customers truck that he was selling at a great price so i had to jump all over it. He used the truck to run a guttering business??? So the truck has had a hard life. The truck can be used to haul toys or other things similar. Would like to make this a bad pulling/ drag truck and a daily driver.

Ive got lots of pics so ill just post the link to them:

About me: I'm currently a 2nd year student at Texas A&M University. I am the president of Texas A&M Diesel Unlimited, a student organization dedicated to the preservation, enhancement, education, and promotion of high-performance diesel trucks driven by AGGIES or our Blinn friends. TAMU Diesel Unlimited gets together weekly to hangout, share experience of these trucks, swap parts, and just have a good time. I am also the president of a chapter of an "unnamed" website.

I have physically been around EVERYTHING on my truck. I did not personally install the tranny, fuel system, CP3, modded rail, or injectors, but I have been there with it torn down trying to learn everything i can so I can do it myself next time. I've stood under my truck with the tranny out of it 4 or 5 times now. I was there working on the 3 day project thats the twins turned in to. I got on the phone with guys with experience from all over the country getting the twins set up right. I've beta tested for 2 companies and have tried just about everything out there...some of which 3 or 4 times.

I acquired the truck brand new in high school. The odometer had 54 miles on when I drove it off the lot. In high school, I owned a mowing business. At the age of 17, I made $25 an hour mowing yards....thus I can afford this truck. I started working for the family business at the age of 12 for a lame $5 an hour....but i learned how to work. My mowing dollars have now run out and I work for an apartment leasing agency here in College Station.

My truck now has 65,000 miles on it. I have owned it for 2 years and 2 months. I may not drive far from my apartment to campus everyday, but I make up for it on the weekends. We (Diesel Unlimited guys) have even been known to drive it all night long just to drop a truck off a tranny shop. My family owns a ranch in western central Texas and I travel there almost every weekend often loaded down with tools or toys, like my 77 jeep with a 409ci V8 in it.

Every time I get a chance, I drag race and dyno my truck. As luck would have it with my schedule, I have only been to the track twice. However, I do have 16 timeslips from those 2 outings. I have only dynoed once but will dyno again later this month. I won the "Hot Street Class" being the highest horsepower truck in attendance with a single turbo and NO nitrous. Eventually I start sled pulling as well.

How You Acquired the truck & Condition on Purchase :
To make a long story short I had a 95 1500 jacked up well a girl pulled out in front of me and totalled it. I searched for about a month till I came accrost the truck that was BONE STOCK!! so I pulled in and got the price and bought it the next day. It had 93,000 miles on it on August ,1 2004 clean and sharp but the GM dealership I found it had put the dodge tailgate "4x4" decals in the back corners like the GM Z71 trucks have so they were the first to go along with the drop in bed liner!

% Of Wrenches You Turned : Id like to say I've done 90% of the work on the truck other than the transmission, the actual O-ringing process and the welded parts, Ive been the one turning the wrench and cutting wires on the truck I pulled the head and installed with a couple buddies (thanks Brian and Cade), drove to Elma Iowa just for a bumper and grille the locker was a PITA, but each trip or money spent is worth it, I take great pride in this truck! its my child

% Of Wrenches Others Have Turned : Id say 10% Greg Long did the DTT trans, Darryl Poole actually cut the O-ring grooves in the head, the guys at the local truck shop did the window tint and Randy Abling (R&D fabrication) does my welding of parts.

A Day In The Life of your Truck :
A day is pretty uneventful, it sits almost all week unless the GF and I want to go somewhere in style (I just want to go fast and blow smoke) since I live in a house on the property where I work and I have a 2006 dodge cummins to drive as a "work truck" but the truck usually on the weekends ends up at a pull or is pulling a trailer with a couple mowers.

Accomplishments :
None to date

To come: Cam, Redline box, 7x0.012 sticks (again), 0.093 injector tubes and lines, big-line kit.

Id just like to Thank DM and all of the sponsors here on dieselbombers.com for making it a awesome site!!! as well as everyone else for helping in my questions here on the forums!!

My 92' Is a 1992 Dodge D250 LE Regular cab Longbed 2wd pickup. it came equipped with a Getrag 360 5 speed transmission, Dana 70 antispin 3.55 geared rearend and the legendary 5.9 Cummins Turbo Diesel, 160hp 400ftlbs factory spec. Cloth seat, AC, tilt, cruise, power windows and locks, carpet, headliner. Here is a pic to visualize it

The bombs i have done.
Isspro boost and pyro on the A pillar
5" chrome turnout stack
18.5 cm housing from a 21cm
home made intake and bhaf and mount
2.5 turns on full fuel screw
starwheel bottomed
fuel pin set deep
smoke screw in 3 or so turns

Here is the plight of how i came to posess my 92'.
Before i saw this truck, we found out my wife was pregnant with our 1st child. What do i do? Go and buy another pickup!!!!
I seen it one day at Green Ford and Dodge dealer in Abilene last august. It was parked down by their back fence looking very forlone, like it had been cast aside:w:. I called up their the next day to see what the story was on it. It had been bought new at Ed Schram dodge in Manhattan, and was traded in at green by the original owner. The odo said 262975 miles, but after a test drive i found that the odo had quit working. Well anyway, i had to have it, But they wanted $3500! I persuaded them down to $2250. Well, i had done it! I had bought my 2nd dodge cummins! Imediatly my family and friends kinda laughed at me for buying a "old school" dodge or the rolling brick as some call them. O well,i love driving it and look forward to many more years of it too!

Here are a few more pics, I put the 2nd gen chrome wheels on just a few weeks ago. I will get some more pics tomorrow

I have turned all the wrenches on my truck.
i am going to take it to a shop to have a 3200 rpm gov spring installed. iam not comfortable taking the injector pump half apart!!And i might have a shop put a set Bosch 190 injectors too. I haven't decided if i want to tackle that yet.
I drive this truck to work every day on Fort Riley. It gets alot of looks and double takes!! Most cars try to dodge my black smoke but, they don't succeed most of the time!! I has been a real solid ole' truck to have and a blast to drive!! Gets 20 mpg and i don't need a computer or a chip to make more power!!
She is not the prettiest belle at the ball, but she will turn a head or too!!

% OF WRENCHING
99%, like to do all my own work
% OTHERS WRENCHING
1%, had a powerstering pump replaced under warranty and a vacum pump resealed, also have a oil change done by a local shop sometimes
DAY IN LIFE OF TRUCK
my truck has a perty easy life compared to some. it takes me to work just about every day, some times hauls my bosses tractor if i am using it, sometimes hauls some work trailers, and even sometimes gets some groceries. but it gets used for sure whenever we go on a long trip where fuel mileage is needed!
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
has never left me stranded, still on original vp44, gets great mileage, and has earned my trust to go anywhere, which is hard to do.
thanks

well i said i wasn't going to enter but hardly anyone else has so maybe entering my clunker will give somebody else some nuts to try it. besides i think i got a pretty cool story to tell.

Truck Description : 1996 SLT Ex-cab, longbox, 4x4, AT 4.10's

Truck Bombs : first thing i did was remove the fiberglass topper and running boards. then i went to the junk yard and got an entire used dash assembly and replaced my cracked to hell dashboard. (not so fun BTW) also have 5" turbo-back, Bank's TwinRam, Bank's Big Head Wastegate, Bank's Ottomind fuel plate, K&N intake system, trainhorns, Realistic brand cb, dual 4' cb antennaes, po-po issue PA, 285/75 michelins, dashboard hula skank, optima battery, steelhorse cab steps and i added a factory cab light kit.

How You Acquired the truck & Condition on Purchase : back in 1996 when i first started turning wrenches i got to do an inspection on a red version of my truck with an MT that some guy traded in. went for an extra long test drive that day and fell in love. well fast forward to 2004 and my dad's friend put the truck this truck up for sale. dad REALLY needed a truck and wanted it. i also wanted him to get it so pushed pretty hard. his buddy was giving it to him for $7500 and it only had 67,XXX miles on it at the time. wife and i went to florida that summer. dad's brother had just bought my dad a crew-cab dually '05 ford (long story) and this truck was just kinda sitting now. against my advice dad had raided the k&n and bank's catalog and had a box full of stuff sitting there waiting to be put on so i eagerly jumped in to help and we got it done and i got to use the truck to get around while we were down there. :) well in 2005 my beloved jeep gave up the ghost with a serious case of frame rot. we really couldn't afford to get a replacement vehicle for me because i'm the only one working. wife draws federal disablity.(another long story) i patched the frame of the jeep together as needed as best i could. pops found out what was going on and after about 2 weeks of my pride fighting the decision we decided that i take this truck from him since it was just sitting and he refused to sell it. so here it is. can't really describe how much i love my truck and how much it means to me. plus it allowed me to meet all of you which was a benefit i never expected.

% Of Wrenches You Turned : i'll say 90% since dad had the big head and fuel plate installed before i got my hands dirty. i've done all the rest though.

% Of Wrenches Others Have Turned : i'll say 10%???

A Day In The Life of your Truck : hauls my fat ass to work and back plus whatever i can think to do with it on the weekends. no truck pulls, offroading, or heavy trailer pulling. just light work.

Accomplishments : no awards other than being owned by a stud.

i'll add future goals: trying to save to replace the stock trans, get it painted because the clear coat is peeling, replace the headliner, and put some nice wheels on someday. and i'll probably go to a 4" exhaust and/or homemade stacks.

* Truck Description : 2001 Ram 2500 HO 6 spd

* Truck Bombs : Stock 3" straight pipe, AMSOIL air filter and oil, FASS 150 system, autometer boost, pyro and FP gauges, Cobra CB, Delta Pro tool box, dual FireStik 4' CB Antennas, B&M T handle shift knob

* How You Acquired the truck & Condition on Purchase :Had been looking at 2nd gen CTDs since 2002 and had found 2 trucks I was about to lay my money out on between 2002 and 2007. One was a BEAUTIFUL black 97 ext. cab long bed with duel exhaust, leather, NV4500 trans, spray in liner and topper. Had new BFG tires and 125k miles. That one was sold later that day before i had a chance to talk to anyone about it. Another truck i had sold from under me was a white 99 RC LB with either a small lift or leveling kit with Trxus M/Ts on it. Nice truck, 83k miles, 5 spd again. That one was sold the morning i went to buy it. After these two incidents i ended up buying a 92 K2500 Chevy truck with 165k miles on it. I had that truck for a year or year and a half. Last summer i was working out of town and used that for my transportation. Unfortunately both head gaskets decided to let go along with an exhaust manifold and the radiator. Since i had no time on my own to do it i had to give in and let a shop do the repairs. The total came to about 2k dollars. Half of what i bought the truck for. After all that happened i decided to sell it before anything else was going to happen. I notices the front ed getting loose and the transmission was starting to act up a little. I decided to start looking at CTDs again. I had looked at 2 others that summer at the same dealership i bought this one at. Both white 2001s with 6 spd manuals. One had 31k miles on it and a salvage title. I immediately stepped down on that one and let it go. The other truck was same truck with 109k miles on it. I let that one go as well due to the fact it had a 217 code and dead pedal. Another reason i let them go is after owning my 92 long bed Chevy i will NEVER go back too a short bed truck again. A couple weeks later i found this truck there and put money down before someone else bought it out from under me like before. I got very lucky because the day i was signing papers the other guy that was coming to look at it came in with check in hand to buy it.......WHEW! They were having a sale at the time i bought this truck and i never knew what its full price was but its sale price was marked at 21,900 and i talked to salesman down to 19,800. I then traded in my 92 K2500 for 2800 and that got the truck down to 17k. My parents then put out 2k to get the price to an even 15k. They did that due to the fact i was going for 42 month loan at 442.71 a month. Anyway, i got the truck and lost my job 3 months later. I then because VERY scared and nervous that i wouldn't be able to pay on my truck and id get it repo'd. I did everything i could at that time to try and make any money i could. I helped a buddy of mine work on his addition on his house for some extra money. I even went as far as to sign up at a temp job service for money. I filled out all paper work and got my paper for the drug test that next morning. So that night i set my alarm and woke up late for the test. The test was set for 9am and i found out my alarm clock got set 12 hrs off. Well i called both the testing location as well as the temp job service and they said since i missed my drug test i was NOT eligible for work at ANY time EVER again there. Boy did i screw that up. Typing this part of this is actually really hard for me because i was very scared i was going to lose the one truck i had been looking for for over 5 yrs and this is bringing back some hard memories for me. Anyway, i ended up getting a job right after the new years as part time temp. help for a dodge dealership detailing cars. I was already VERY badly in the hole from making payments with no money, bouncing checks etc. Anyway i got this job and it only payed 200-250 bucks every 2 weeks. That was not enough as to the fact that my truck payment is 450 a month and that took all my money. Well, i ended up getting a second job that worked full time from 7am to 3:30pm and my boss at the dealership said i could stay there and only work night for some extra cash. That full time job only lasted a week as the work there was nothing of what i expected it to be and the people there were unfriendly. So i went back to only the part time job draining myself of money and everything i had to make my payments. Come march of 2007 i ended up getting a full time job that im currently at doing oil changes at a high end luxury car dealership here in my home town. This job has allowed me to get back to making my payments on time and gave me cash enough to supply the mods for my truck that i have listed. I am happy where i work now and happy that its in a field that i went to school for. Owning my truck had been a very stressful and hard thing for me due to never having the money i needed to make my payments on time if at all. Now that im making over 1000 a month (i know its not much) it has given me my life back and allowed me to make my payments on time if not overpay some money every month on it.

* % Of Wrenches You Turned : So far everything i have done on my truck i did with myself or myself with the assistance of another person.

* % Of Wrenches Others Have Turned : 0%

* A Day In The Life of your Truck : Drive to and from work and anywhere else, occasionally pulling my 83 C10 to the drag strip for drag racing

* Accomplishments : just having god answer my prayers to help me keep my truck and find a way to make the monthly payments.
